Here's another vote for Caswell...did a rusty Harley tank ten years ago and all is still well.

What a drag. Sometimes DIY doesn't work out. I applied the Caswell coating to the inside of my tank but the material was too warm and the material hadened before I could spread it properly. I contacted Caswell and they are sending me a second kit free of charge. In order to ensure that the epoxy adheres to the first layer I have to wet it with Acetone. The first coat looks pretty good - very hard.

SO disappointing when you think you've done all you can. Sorry to hear about that. Instead of scrapping it though, maybe offer it up to someone on the list who wants to have another go at it, (not me ). At least one more tank will be in the system out there.

                JB Weld doesn't hold up.

I'm a BIG fan of JB Weld for many applications but let me tell yuo that based on personal experience that it doesn't hold up against gas. I tried to patch a tank that was in the same shape as the one in the picture and it didn't work. It had to be braised(sp?) to stop the leaks.

I don't want a lined tank. I can find another solid one for what liner costs.
