      Hey Bear,

You just have to know the TYPE of coil you want, a dual output/dual tower with 12v primary and ~3 ohms rating. The DC-1 model is what is used. You'll need to get a separate wire/cap set!

For the older XS11's, 78-80, folks just bypass the ballast resistor so that the new coils get 12 volts all the time, the TCI will still see 3 ohms on the trigger side so it will be happy.

          Hey Bear,

Sorry, that's DC1-1 dual output, 3 ohm type! The DynaTek website SUCKS!

          See following AMAZON ad:
          http://www.amazon.com/Dynatek-Coil-1...rds=dyna+dc1-1

          Ebay:
          http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dynatek-Igni...-/140740594590

Example of plug wire kit, note the shape of end for coil.
          http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-SP...-/170928199069

Not recommending seller, just has decent description, HOWEVER, these kits do NOT come with all necessary hardware to install...you need to acquire a separate Plug Wire/Cap kit....they use a large round metal compression type clip for the end that fits into the coil body, the wires can NOT just be threaded onto the coils!

Thanks everyone for the help. My head is about to explode with all of this stuff.I feel like a dummy.

$125 seems like a hell of a lot of money for a coil? I get that you need a dependable one but I'm building this on my Social Security check...LOL

              Greg, I already have the LDO5f but 2 and 3 are XDO5F

That is for a pair of them.... There's cheaper alternatives, but reliability/quality suffers badly....

                    Hey Bear,

Others have gotten Coils from a used Honda VF1000, they are dual towered and 3 ohms. See this ebay link:

                    http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-VF1000...-/271064326173

I don't know the stats on their output power, but are recommended by the fellows across the pond( UK ) as well as members on this site!

The coils look like they use a special screw on wire cap/seal, and I think the wire fits into the coil ON/OVER a screw stub or such down inside the tower, but others can confirm this info....so you may need to look at getting a set of solid core wires that will fit the Honda coils?!
