It was just time for it to go, it was worn out.

It's only $1000 here but it beat junking it for no money at all. I was looking at close to $800 for new tires, brakes, wheel bearings, CV joints and rack-and-pinion on top of whatever little fiddly-bit that made it fail the smog test in the first place.

        • What are you? Some kind of magician, that can pull these bearing's out of your arse? I have tried numerous times to get them here, talked to rep's etc and no dice. You keep on pulling from the un'obtainium fund and the sun will surely go out.

Heh heh! I'm Captain Unobtanium, the English bearing superhero. No, they are discontinued and reps won't be able to supply them to you...or it's highly unlikely. My little army of Japan-scouring chums come across them now and then and, when they do, I grab the chance to buy them, although I've noticed recently that the quantities are getting smaller as time goes by.

Gotta go, I'm just passing a phone box and want to change into my superhero outfit...

How about a free one year subscription to XS11.com? Okay, make it two years.

This is the bearing that is on the final drive side of the rim. James seems to be the only one who can get them (seems to be due to connections in the Japanese bearing industry). Everywhere else these bearings are no longer available.

Well you possibly don't need one, necessarily. If your existing bearing is fine and has been looked after, you'll be fine. However, if your bearing is like many others, it could be worn, rusty, neglected and possibly fail, especially if someone has been enthusiastic with a jet washer. At that point, you'll need to replace it and you will most probably find that you can't get hold of one for love nor money. I sent one to someone in Norway whose bike had been off the road for 3 months while he tried to find one. So, many people buy one and hoard it for insurance. I've heard that even possessing a spare acts like a magic talisman, extending the life of the original bearing...

The bearings, including airmail shipping (approx 10 days worldwide delivery time), cost $47 with payment via Paypal. That's when I have any available.

                          • I have two bearings left now, folks, and would like to get them on their way to someone before they disappear in my workshop, never to be seen again, like many other small parts recently...... I could also do with some funds to add to the fighting fund on the new project!

If anyone wants one/them, please PM me and I'll do you a nice deal, OK?

                            • All gone

The last two bearings have just gone and are packed and ready to go to the USA.

I'll post again here if I get hold of any more. If, in the meantime, anyone gets an emergency and needs one desperately, I could always let my own personal spare go, OK? Don't want to see anyone stuck....

                              • Left side bearing

I grabbed the last 2 James had, just in case. If you need one I'll offer the same deal as James did for me. I think because of the tightness of my rear wheel turning in neutral I will most likely use one. Unless there could be another reason for Midnight Train's rear wheel not turning as freely as Ruby Tuesday did ? I do have a 17" wheel coming to help a little with MPG., when I put that on I'll know better if its in the wheel bearing.
