Here's the original thread with the wheel differences.... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...ghlight=wheels

The 'tube' wheels only came on the '78 and early '79 standards, all others were tubeless and so marked with a stamped 'suitable for tubeless' note. Not to say that these couldn't end up newer bikes, so if there's any doubt, check....

And here's how to convert the rear to tubeless...http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...ghlight=wheels

How essential do you folks feel the Auto Tensioner is?

You don't *have* to have it, as the stock tensioner is perfectly serviceable if you keep it adjusted on schedule and don't overtorque anything. I went to the ACCT for the piece of mind in knowing that it cannot slip unless it physically breaks in two, plus the bonus of less required maintenance. They come up cheap on eBay sometimes, and to me it was totally worth the few bucks it cost.
My Special is as old as I am.

Personally, I put stainless brake lines up above progressive springs and even the ACCT.

                          My top five:
                          1. Tkat brace
                          2. Braided stainless lines
                          3. ACCT
                          4. TC fuse block
                          5. Rox pivot risers

                          6. Progressive rear shocks

The first mod I did for all my bikes

                                1. Get it running... Every one of my bikes have sat for 10+ years and were non runners.

                                2. Get it to stop!!! Rebuild MC and calipers and if you have the money SS brake lines.

                                3. ACCT

                                4. Blade fuse box

                                5. Second gear fix. It is definetly and upgrade to go from not having 1 and/or 2nd gear to being able to use all the gears.

I know, I know most of this list is just repairs. I just feel it's and upgrade from just being able to look at the bike in the garage to being out riding the bike.

                                6. Is to get another XS/XJ so that your first one is not lonely.
                                Ty
