Headlight wire and GPS

It was just an attempt at a bit of humour. No disrespect intended. I know that to avid fishermen etc that the exact spot in holy.

LOL... you know the best way to find the hot spot? look for the biggest hog line! but it is good to mark them for later use. I've got a couple Sturgeon holes that I've stored in the memory that always produce fish. and if your off by 15-20 yards you wont catch nothing but grass.

I've had one of those cover things in my watch list on ebay for over a year now. Eventually, I'll break down and get one. No need for a dedicated GPS though, since just about every phone has it built-in nowadays. I've got the cig. adapter in my fairing to power the phone charger. I use my stereo bluetooth headset under my helmet, and just listen to the voice prompts from my phone telling me where to turn. Having it out and visible would be nice though, since there are times when the GPS gets confused or looses the signal and requires some interaction.

I have yet to find a way to get my bluetooth to stay in my ear with my helmet on my head, maybe my head is wide, its to tight to my ears for anything in there. OK, anything between the helmet and my ears, every one already knows there is pure air between the ears. Don't mind it to much though, it is one way to get away from the dang phone.

As to using GPS on a bike, I do not plan to make it so I could, to distracting to me. I take mine along for trips, keep it in my coat inside pocket. If I need directions, I stop and take a look, see the next few turns and then put it back and ride on.

wiring discovery

I popped the glovebox out of the left hand fairing today to find me a power and ground to plice the cigarette lighter into. And ta-dah theres already a keyed power wire and ground tied up in there already.

Popped the plug out of the hole in the lower part fairing below the glove box to measure it. .875 good to go for cigarette lighter.

Time to order the lighter socket and gps mount. be ready to rock

All my lighting wires go thru there so I was just gonna test and find what I needed and mark it. I'm gonna assume when the fairing was wired these loose wires we're done to power a cigarette light as the are right down by the grommet plug where the lighter would go. Couldnt really see any other reason for them to be there unless dad had something hooked to them back in the day. but they look like they've never been used.

the hot wire in my headlight bucket is OEM and I guess it is for aftermarket hookups in a fairing or such, perfect for my GPS as it is close to the handlebars

I just bought one of those GPS mounts. It's a lot bigger than i thought. I was kinda worried since I want to use it for my phone as well. Well I should not have worried. I could probably put my phone AND my GPS. (okay exaggeration there but still)

When I get it on my bike I will. Your 4.5 GPS would work I'm pretty sure.
