i meant the overspray, if ur bike has
polished covers etc dont get any overspray
of the bicarb on the parts, that stuff gets every where.

I've got the carbs off and disassebled but still banked together, hot water should take care of it afterwards. Thanks!

A search for sodium bicarb revealed this little gem on Wikipedia!

For cleaning aluminium objects, the use of sodium bicarbonate is discouraged as it attacks the thin unreactive protective oxide layer of this otherwise very reactive metal.

It's a mild ALKALI, and they are known for damaging aluminum surfaces when applied WET! So..you definitely want to brush/blow away and then thoroughly rinse it off of any oversprayed area.

idle mixture screws

I'm working on a set that came apart relativly easy except the idle mix screws. The slots in the screw heads were pretty much gone so after 4 days of soaking with deep creep i used the dremel, cut down to the screws, re-slotted them and they are still not coming out...

i had similar issues with my set of carbs, the issue is they made them out of butter . when i got my bike the previous owner mashed them in good ended up finding another set and made one set out of the two.

Hi dpotter,
here's a trick I invented (or perhaps re-invented).
Get a screwdriver bit that fits the needle slot real good and put it in a drill press.
Unplug the drillpress, this is a manual thing.
Put the carb body on the drill press baseplate, use the drill feed handle to force the drill bit hard down into the needle's screwdriver slot.
While keeping the screwdriver bit hard down into the slot turn the drill chuck by hand to turn the needle out.
Works most of the time.
