I reinstalled my carbs today but forgot a few things for where they go. The two lines coming off the 2 and 3 cylinder (i think) are they vacuum if so where do they plug into on the carbs. I was a having a poor time seeing with having no light, and i really didn't want to take them back off to look after wrestling them in there. any answers? Also is there anything else i might be missing. I have installed the fuel lines and the lines that run to the airbox, also a bigger line that plugged into the middle of the airbox thanks.

Each carb intake boot has a vacuum fitting on it. The outside two are capped in normal use, the inside two go to the tank petcocks...Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

Being the older carbs, they could be the vent lines going to your air box. Picture would help.mack

The vac advance is the tube coming out the top of the timing cover on the left side of the bike. That tube connects to that port on the carb.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

thanks steve. Another thing i have noticed, I hooked up the fuel lines, vacuum lines, the three lines to the air box, and the vac advance. My problem is i noticed another line sitting in there. It looked like maybe for draining or something. It was a line i have left there when i have removed the carbs. Is this needed and what is it?
Also the line thats connected to where the top mount of the air box, does that go to the tank? it looks like it was meant for that. But at this point i dont want to screw something up'78EComment

There is a drain hose that connects to the rear of the tank and drain down behind the engine. There is also the vent for the middle drive which goes up to the top mount of the airbox.Nathan

There's a hose/vent routing diagram in the back of the FSM that will help you identify all those hoses and where they go. It may be in the Clymer manual too, I haven't looked. If you don't have a manual, you really need one...Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

Yeah i have two pdf manuals I got from a link on this site. I just didnt see a diagram in them. I have it all figured out now, from the help of you all. It seems like I shouldnt have a problem. I have only had the bike since begin of feb and i took the carbs and airbox out after i heard it fire for the first time. Just lost the mental picture i had when I did that.'78EComment
