Just got one vrod Brake caliper and my front tire installed

Metzler me 880 130/90/17 front tire 181.00
Vrod right brake caliper Ebay 80.00

working on my wheel hub and shock mount on the front end to night should be finished by tomorrow.

Next Step.
1. riser final fitting and aluminum welding into position. Was adjustable but did not want to take the risk of it moving so im welding it into position.
2. Take to weld shop and have the frame worked on for final welding. Adding brackets and such for my foot levers, exhaust brackets and light brackets..

just finished one of the last items on my forks. The hub/shock mount/brake mount

once I fit it all together ill take photos before the assembly goes to powdercoating and then off to get wrapped with carbon fiber.

carbon fiber wrap is for cladding urethane foam cores to make strong things that don't weigh much.
Doing that to slab-milled aluminum seems to be counter-intuitive at the very least.
Spin-polish and clearcoat is all that is needed.

its cosmetic only. You like the way it looks with the aluminum look with no color is what your saying correct.
I just didnt want anything that was Shiny on the bike. Those forks will either be BLACK or i will do a pattern on them such as a carbon fiber pattern. I already have a source that will wrap them in black or Blue carbon. I was also thinking of making my side pieces from carbon fiber. Oh and as far as purpose of carbon fiber I think you would be amazed at the uses.. I worked as a Mechanical engineer for a prosthetic company for 2 years designing Feet and the pressures that the human foot can withstand is insane. I designed several multi axis ankles attached to a carbon fiber and Kevlar foot pad. I had worked with carbon fiber before that in the aircraft industry but the intense use in prosthetics is amazing.

I have 100 items a day anodized Its not as durable as i would like it to be unless i hard anodize it but im not liking the colors available in hard ANO. Black is ok but its really DULL. If i powdercoat it first then layer over that with the carbon fiber pattern its super hard to scratch unlike anodizing. I have a couple items anodized and it looks like crap now from just normal use.

I will be anodizing my riser seen in the picture i put up today however only because you have to go out of your way to scratch it or ding it.

Judge Dredd's bike was called Lawmaster... bit of a mouthful though and sounds a bit goody-goody. An abbreviation to 'JD' might make it sound like Jack Daniels though, eh?

i can adjust from 3.125 - 4.25 just by changing my upper bracket.
Its currently sitting right at 3.125 positive.
I can also shorten my lower arm to get to 5.1"
those lower arms BTW are 1.375 thick and 1.75 wide. so flex wont be a problem.
I was just putting some numbers together and 1.25 thick 1.75 wide will start to tweek at about 500lbs at 12 inchs in length.. so it looks like im not to worried.
My lower arms are 7.5 inchs long I am thinking of making them 2.5 inches wide
for extra support just in case. .

not that im an engineer or anything but i took ur pic and added two thing to it...the vertical tubish thing is representing thing spring, and the horizontal is more or less supposed to be a bracket to which you could attach the caliper for your brake...now the reason i added this was basically to ask, with the spring vertical instead of diagnal would that not provide for a smoother front end...

As You Were, I changed your drawing and then i read on and saw the picture of your bike and just like i drew you did already...way to go stud, i'll keep my mouth shut from now on...LOL... as for the headlight though i just said i'd keep my mouth shut, i think you should go with some KC's...like from a Jeep...make it kinda like the headlights on this Rucus...

Thank you.. i looked at what your proposing. If you look at the very last picture i posted i did address this very thing. I moved back that shock about 3 inches from what i have on the solid model. I can adjust it about another inch or so. It does actually change the action of the front wheel. i tried a couple positions and i also extended the lower arm by an 1.625 inches so the shock is more vertical to the ground. I have been looking at something similar to this. Harely actually has a kit for dual lights just like that.. its growing on me a bit.




what do you guys think about the headlight on this bike .. BMW k1200 rs

I was thinking about actually making something similar instead of purchasing it and making it much larger. I would also add LED lights
