Found it thanks. Unfortunately, on top of the cost of the bearing and shipping, they're asking for a $50 'web handling charge' to send this little part to the UK, so I'll not be buying one from these people. They come up as NOS on eBay from time to time, so I'll wait and get one of those next time one is available. The ones I've seen in the past have a grease-retaining seal. There's doesn't appear to be one here...?

You might check with someone (bearing supplier) over there, NTN has to be around I would think, and have the supplier order it?
As far as the left side grease seal, the seal is a separate part I believe. That part was available 3 years ago when I stocked up on an extra set of right side bearing, front wheel bearings, etc. Recently I heard Yamaha officially discontinued (correct me if I'm wrong) XS 1100 parts, at least what ones were still available. I'd think there would be some still out there in supply.
Good luck, keep it greased well and regularly!Howard

How about this as an option? http://www.bearingboys.co.uk/NKIA590...aring_-19142-p
OK, so it's an angular contact bearing with needle rollers and ball bearings. Would it do the job, do we think??XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Dyna coils. Iridium plugs. XS750 final drive (sometimes). Micron fork brace. Progressive front springs. Geezer regulator/rectifier. Stainless 4 into 2 exhaust. Auto CCT (Venturer 1300) SOLD. The number part being the same maybe the same bearing from a different manufacturer?

The real trick on the NA5904 is that the inner ring moves freely. From the looks of that NKIA type, the inner ring is fixed at the ball bearing end. That might be a problem, when torquing up the axle it may bind.Former owner, but I have NO PARTS LEFT!

Using that NKIA5904 bearing was discussed on the UK forum a couple of years ago - here
There are concerns that it's loading rating is lower.Brian

The needle roller combined with angular contact bearing I link to as an alternative to the original needle bearing has a very slightly lower rating but would probably last 2/3's the life of the original ....so thats 20 years instead of 30 years
Interesting that the NTN bearing is being made in batches though, great find lads, I'll contact our local bearing suppliers and ask them to look into it. Buying a batch for the UK stock might be worth looking into.Tom

OK, to clarify - I was replying to James England's query about the NKIA5904 bearing.
In the thread I linked to both Napier ("In conclusion, I cant see this bearing as a suitable replacement") and PeKemm ("I strictly decline the use of an NKIA 5904") expressed concerns about using the NKIA5904.Brian

Ah yep, I see where you're coming from now.
The opinion expressed by PeKemm (and maybe Napier) seem to be opinions, which if based on experiences are very worthwhile.
What I was quoting were the load ratings from the bearing manufacturers own listings. I tend to believe the manufacturers info more than anyone elses, no disrespect meant ladsTom

I've found a supplier of the correct bearing here in the UK. £46 + 20% sales tax. Quite expensive but it's nice to know they can still be got hold of...........XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Wow, what's that like $100 US? Even when we got the batches, we were able to get them for half that. You might want to try and source them here in the US and we can ship 'em over, definitely for less than that.Former owner, but I have NO PARTS LEFT!
