Ps: just checked, it's PH6017A that is mentioned. The one you reference is an auto filter used by the rivco adapter and the SOFCA.Last edited by cywelchjr; 01-25-2011, 06:26 PM.Cy

The fram PH6017A can be had at WallyWorld if that is one of the options. Same as my ST uses and several others besides the Wing. Oem honda filter cost me bout $7 whenever I occassionally use an OEM one.Last edited by motoman; 01-25-2011, 06:52 PM.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

Yeah, the 6017A according to the tech tip and instructions is the filter the adapter was made for. The other filter is for the one that replaces the oil cooler assy at the same time, has to do with how it mounts VS the one I have.
An update, after two round trips yesterday. I checked after I pulled into the garage, and everything is clean and dry. So now it's wait a see how things are at the next oil change, assuming nothing fails in between, which I'm not expecting.
I have to say, I'm really impressed with the quality look of the thing, it looks like something run off an assembly line, with the sole exception of not being anodized.Cy

Hey there Nate/Cy,
Nate has the SOF"C"A, and so needs the larger/wider designed 3950 or equivalent type filter, vs. the smaller diameter 6017 for the SOFA.
I believe it was Toolmaker Tim that found out that the Fram 6607 will also fit the S, is a bit shorter to allow more clearance but has the same ID for the oil ring seal...which is one of the important parameters for finding one to fit. The oil supply holes are just inside the 2.4" diameter zone, so the Oring needs to be very close to that zone.
**Just checked Fram, the 6607 has an ID for the oil seal ring of 2.27", a little bit shy of the 2.4", however I've tried to machine that opening a bit closer to the nut, and it might be a little smaller in diameter on your plate, you may need to take a ruler/caliper and check it's position and relative diameter ring size to see if the 6607 would extend beyond the opening without covering/closing or restricting it!?
The other parameter is the 20mm x 1.5 pitch threading.
I didn't actually design the SOFCA around the filter, but found a filter that would allow the design of the SOFCA to work with it's larger/wider securing nut.
Cy, glad to hear that you've had a successful install so far.
I've had several inquiries regarding both items, and I'm planning on putting more into production, once the garage THAWS out a little more!!
T.C.
PS, go to this link:
http://www.framcatalog.com/Part.aspx...*3950*&em=True
Then click on the PH3950, and then at the bottom you will see a very long list of COMPETITOR's FILTERS Cross Referrence...should help you find one in a brand close to you!

I have a SOFCA that I am going to be putting on when I get things put back together. Having a little trouble finding a filter for it since it seems no one makes the filter TC original designed it around.T. C. Gresham

So your saying that the 6607 MIGHT work for the SOFCA?Nathan

Here I even looked it up and all, and didn't catch that as I was saying that filter was the right one for the SOF*C*A that it was that device he has. So I guess Nate can slap me around for stupid for a while now (I'm sure he's gonna have fun with it).
PS, the new design of the SOFA sure looks like it's a good bit sturdier as comes to applying the pressure of the center out to the edges being as it looks meatier than the pictures of the original unit. Any feedback on if that made failed installs any less likely?Cy

Like I have mentioned before I have been able to find Quaker State oil on sale with a free Fram oil filter for $14.99 for 5 litres at Canadian Tire here in Canada. So it's also cheaper to do oil changes with this mod too.BDF Special
