Well finally took the bike off the stand. Jacked it up took the legs off the stand and let it down, easy. Got a little more done now. I put my V strom battery in it, installed the footpegs and set up the shifter and rear brake. Also just test fitting the header right now.

Are the header gaskets a one time use? I have a new set but am not sure if I can put them in and then put on and take off the header repeatedly without causing damage to the seals and creating exhaust leaks.

      Anyone?

Anyway here are some more pictures; the pictures are coming a little slower now that I've caught up to where I am with the build.

Exhaust gaskets can be used over and over, they are not a one time only deal. Bike looks good.

Cool, thanks! I wasn't sure - never done this before!

Alright, I finished up my intake this weekend so here it is.

I intended to go with pods for my bike but didn't do enough research on this site. I bought the cheap (Emgo?) filters off ebay and realized too late that they have a lip in them that blocks off portions of the carbs.

With further research (man this site is handy) I discovered that you can use the velocity stacks off the air box to fix this problem. I couldn't figure out a way to do it without wrecking the stacks (never know, I may want to go back to the box one day). Then I found where people have been making intakes using PVC so I thought that I would give that a try. While I was looking for pieces for my experiment I noticed that p-traps were very close to the proper size and spacing of the carbs, so I bought a couple. This is what I came up with, hopefully it works!

Man, the bike is getting so dirty from sitting I am going to have to wash it soon! I like the way the filters stay tucked under the tank and seat.

From my understanding you can also just cut the lip out but I like the way yours look, it looks pretty sweet!

Looks pretty nice!!! Be interested in the performance of them. Seen others try such setups and had trouble from them. Hopefully yours will work well for you.

Love the paint. Not so much the colors, but your striping theme is exactly what I planned on doing. Looks great. I like your intake solution.

To each their own! It was either the red and white stripe or a flat olive green color for more of a ''military'' look. What colors were you looking at painting yours?

Black w/ red. It's not that I don't like your colors, I do. They look really good. What I meant was that the fat stripe with the small side stripes is how I want to do my standard tank. Keep up the good work.

No worries, I didn't take it that way anyhow. Didn't mean to come across negatively, just that everyone has their own preferences. I guess I should start using more of those smiley things to convey tone

Yeah, the red and black would look pretty good too. Are you going to be doing a red or black stripe and what color would you use for the smaller stripes?

Just finished wrapping the exhaust in header wrap. I went further back with it than most do (actually looks even more exaggerated in the photo) since the pipe was in bad shape. It was solid but dented and rusty, but also cheap so I can't complain. Petcocks should arrive anyday now and then I will actually be able to put some gas in the tank and run it for more than a minute. I'll be checking all the electrical for proper oporation and tuning it as soon as I get the petcocks. Some lights, new shocks, gauges, mirrors, get the seat covered and she'll be ready to roll.

Coming along nicely, but now you'll have to do something with those rear shocks!
