  • Carb sync opinions

I'm looking into Carb sync tools. 1. Morgan "Carbtune pro", 2. Motion pro "Synch pro" and 79xs11F sent me a thread on the KZGS carb sync "guage balancer". I'd like to hear from anyone who has used these. Ease of use, reguired adapters, accuracy and since my eye's aren't what they used to be, easy to read? Thanx guys

I use the Morgan Carb Pro and love it . Next to no maintenance accurate easy to see and it's not a piece of junk that will break easily or has anything that will leak. Everything is neatly tucked away in a nice soft case until you need to use it again.

I have a Morgan. It is great.I have used sticks and gauges, but I like the Carbtune best.
Sticks work great, but the mercury makes them a PITA to store.
And you can suck mercury into the carbs if you blip the throttle.
Gauges are ok, but cumbersome in my opinion.
The Carbtune works great and easy to store.

The Morgan Carbtune is number one in my books. Comes with everything you need. I also bought the carrying case which is also a nice feature. It took ten days shipping time from the UK to my place in Alberta Canada which is really quick. Very easy to use instructions etc. Reading them is a breeze and they have no liquid elements so they cant develop bubbles or get sucked into the carbs. They will also come apart if you need to clean or rebuild them. They are a quality made item and I am very happy to be using them and DO highly recommend them.

I started with mercury sticks. It was great 'till a burp from the carbs sent fuel back into the mercury which effectively killed it. So I setup a 4-gauge synchronizer, and it worked great and was very accurate after calibration. It was however a little big to carry around, and I wound up buying a Carbtune Pro. Nice ergonomics, very accurate, and very compact. They also bundle it with a nylon case and a colortune plug. Unless you're good at setting your carb mixtures by ear or have an accurate tachometer to do it with, IMHO you need both tools (carbtune and colortune) to accurately adjust your carbs. My advice is to go with this - 14mm plug size.

                  Carbtune / Colortune Invaluable Combo

I swear by my morgan Carbtune and Colortune combo. It was hard to part with the money when I bought them and after the first time I used them together I wondered why I ever did it the hard way .....

Awe yes, the nay-sayer as usual. If you love waisting money, go for the Morgan. However, you can achieve the same or better results with a home built, 4-way linked, vinyl tubing manometer for less than $10.

You have to admit it is fun to use a nice piece of equipment. The carbtune is great, glad I spent the money.

                          What they said

I too was in the same boat and bought the Morgan Carbtune a month ago, Used it for the first time yesterday, and loved it. It was plug and play, and I wandered why I wouldn't synch the carbs once a month with this thing...it is so easy.

I once tried to take the cheap way and build my own synch machine...it worked that time, barely and very painfully, but now its $15 and a pile of random tubes and a broken 4 way plastic valve....so do yourself a favor.

It would be nice to have, but I'm too cheap azz to buy the Morgan Carbtune. I use a cheapo JCW 4 guage setup that works fine. The downside is I have to syncronize the guages every time before using with a mity vac.
