Looks good!
The fairing, lowers and side trunk assembly is what came on the 81 Venturer. The tail trunk looks to be Vetter as the Venturer 1100 didn't come with a tail trunk. One was available through thier accessory catalog as was the lower slide in back-rest. They came with the taller tapered backrest. Made for good foul weather protection and still gave the XS thrill!81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.Comment

Anybody have any pictures of an '80 Venturer package? I'm thinking mine was dealer or later assembled but it would be nice to know for sure. It's nice to see these pictures of nice Venturer packages.
One more question, how much extra fuel does the Venturer tanks hold?1980 XS1100 Standard "Touring"

The venture tank is a 6.4 US gallon tank. The Standard tank is 5.5 US Gallons, and the Special is almost 4.5. The only photo I have of a dresses bike is a '78, and that was BEFORE the venture package. I also didn't use the Yamaha box, but got a HD type because of the large size.Ray Matteis

I bought the set off of Kijiji. A guy in Manitoba had taken it off of a freind's XS years ago.
It came with the Vetter tour pak trunk, and the front fender 'guard', I just have the regular standard tank ( 3 actually). I would love to get a hold of the larger tank. I have also been watching for a more 'authentic' looking trunk.
Incidentally, a while back, there was a thread about the various exhaust systems that were available for the XS11. In this picture you can see one side of the S&S dual setup. The guy in England, with all the exhaust pictures, wanted a shot of this system, but I can't find the thread anymore.Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

To be authentic rack without trunk but I think a trunk is such a useful addition. The vetter does "clash" a bit with the "look" but I think it will be difficult to find such a large one in a different style.
Not sure my arse is up to 6.4 gallons but i do look forward to trying

Hi James,
Have spoken on the phone. Rick is busy this week but we are scheduled to have a "session" on Saturday. Hope to put the head back on and MAY even get to start it with borrowed carbs.

This weeks update. Rick tells me he has re installed the head complete with valves from Blue Giant and shims from TinMan905. Cold Compression is good.
I have picked up the steering head bearings and the fork seals so we have lots to do on Saturday. Tinman is coming too.

What a busy day. After rolling out of bed and ready to GO the damn car would not start. -17C was Too cold for the weak battery. took over an hour to get it boosted and running. By the time I arrived at Rick's both James and Mo were already there. Shortly after my arrival.... the abuse began.... and a fuel tank was installed. Fired right up when Rick hit the starter. Sounded great to me. ran for a few minutes until it was good and warm.
After lunch they kept taking things off until the forks were in pieces and the steering head bearings were out. Forks are missing some internal parts such as the "cone" and the washers that go on the seals. lots of dirt in the old oil so Phil has "homework" to source parts and clean up the fork tubes.
Thanks guys for a very succesful day.

Phil Got Dirty !!!
A good day for sure. The entire front end of Phil's big boy bike is now tore down. Mo and I fought to remove the neck bearing races, Phil pulled the bearing off the lower triple tree and assisted James tearing down the front forks. Nothing came easy but a few beers and some perserverance triumphed in the end.
Four good sized men, two XS 1100's, two fullsized toolboxes and tons of used parts all in my tiny shop. Tight quarters. Good times.
I'm running out of abusive quips to terrorize Phil with, so I may have to start being nice to him soon. Mo is a man of the world and has some of the best stories I have ever heard, James is a working machine, there's no way we would have gotten as far as we did without his effort and know how.
Phil now has a running XS 1100 and will be permitted to add it to his signature.
Phil has some pics that we will post.
