It could be this one but I don't believe it's the Trans Canada Edition that has been described as the one Phil bought. Hopefully Rick or Phil will chime in.
Hi Paul,
Yes that is the correct one. That will serve as the before pictures.
Big Thank You for the Exhaust Valves. Others may not realize you had to strip a head to get them for me. Much appreciated.
Thanks

Hey Phil did you take a few pictures before the work started. It will be nice to see when it's back together . That's one hell of an oil cooler you have on it .
Hi Tinman905,
No I keep forgetting to take the camera. So the posted pictures will have to be the before.
Thank You for the Valve Shims. Delivery is certainly above and beyond everything. How did you get on with the Hell Hound ?
I look forward to actually meeting you some day

I'm not a motorcycle mechanic but I play one on the internet.
Hi Richard,
What I think makes a Venturer. 1981 here in Canada and probably in US Yamaha only offered the XS1100 witha touring package that consisted of a Fairing with lowers and hard bags plus a rack with adjustable backrest.
Bags & fairing were made by Pacifico but I think only offered by YAMAHA as part of the complete bike.
Oil cooler also appears to be standard.
While earlier years had fairings and bags offered by Vetter those were add ons not part of the bike as it came from the factory.
Yours certainly looks like a Venturer. Oh the white patches on the tank and a larger tank may be unique to the venturer too.
Phil ( waiting for those who know or disagree to post)
Thanks Phil/Ken, That helped.
Just went out in the garage and the tank is definetely wider, about an inch at the emblems and an inch longer than my 80G's tank.
Only wish I could have gotten that seat with it...Hurricane Ike took it from the PO after he moved it without the bike.
I would have to agree you definitely have a Venturer there. All 1981 XS1100H
models came like yours. Besides the model, the telltales are the large fuel tank and the factory touring accessories. The bike looks very original, right down to the anti glare hood between the windscreen and gauges.
Rick
Fred,
I believe that is indeed the bike Phil bought from Jim.
Its the same bike...I saw it in person last year...its a shame though...............ok after reading the other posts I am confused as to which bike Phil has...is it the one with the Green tank or is it the one with the original paint and white insets on the tank?

Actually I think that is the Blue venturer not green...I'm the color blind azz ya know...
Hey Ben. Hope all is well with you. Phil bought the Venturer with the painted over tank decals. (Blue) We are about a week away from starting it up for the first time. Fingers crossed the rings are ok. Hopefully you'll see it at XS East. Any chance you'll make the trip to XS North? If you can make it to my place we can head up together with some of the other boys. Thx Rick
