  • Time for an update. On the road and a couple of short rides. Still some little things to do. Monday Rick & James have the Dyno booked so carbs will get final set up. Bolt check etc. Rick will no doubt tell us all about it.
Just in time for riding season

        Hi BNE,
Exhaust is nice and secure. It's all the little nuts and bolts that need to be checked. Damn traffic in the city is driving me nuts i need a good run in the country.

          • Addies Dyno Run

Addie checked in at 70hp and 58 ft.lbs of torque at the rear wheel. Great A/F line. Pulls hard.
Still have a few adjustments and an intermittent start condition to deal with but she is getting close to ready. Should be about 72 horses and 60 ft lbs of torque when done, which is about what they were new.
Our own loose nut (MaximPhil)will be in charge of checking for loose fasteners in addition to his beer monkey duties.
            Thx BDF

            • Since last posted here. Had a couple of short rides. Today took Addie to meet Bullet where Rick & James and Slo Mo were in attendance.
Retourqued the head and cams. Fixed the thread and changed a nut on Camshaft retainer. Checked valve clearances. All good. Discovered diaphrams were leaking. Fixed with "liqued electrical tape". Oil appears to have evaported from Crankcase ? Topped up oil.
Synched crabs again & set idle.
Other than dabbing on the goop to repair the diaphragm all above procedures were done by those already mentioned in Bullets beautiful workshop using his tools and stuff.
Honourable mention to Gary Conboy who rode up with me in the EARLY morning. The weatherman lied and it was cold and overcast not suny and warm as promised.
Thanks again to all of you for making it possible forme to ride Addie.

              • Hi Phil...I read the other thread at Bullet's...even after all the tweaks nothing will shake it down better than a roadtrip!

                    • Prep time running out. To night I took a ride up to Orangeville so TinMan could take Addie for a ride and see what could be done about the low end stumble/hesitation. First I was relieved to hear it was real and not just me.
His plan of action was to try another exhaust system.
First we tried the MAC 4 into two system but it would not fit around the oil cooler lines. Then we tried the Spaghetti pipes and they would not fit around the oil line either. They sure look nice though Next came the 4-1 off the second Special. Well they fit except for the rear mounting bracket which i will have to fabricate.
Runs much better now in the low rev range.
soon be time to load and Go.
                      Thanks James

                      • While Phil is prancing around England I removed the carbs from "addie" usc them again double checked all passages were clear . I installed the new used set of slides /diaphragms set to him from ELDR (Ted) removed the 125 mains installed 115's , swapped the 45 pilots out for 42.5's, set the fuel level and synced.

I took Phil's bike for a short ride tonight and it took off like a jet. It pulled hard until I was forced to backed off 130km. In a 80km limit up here that will get you impounded and in court I put around 50km/30miles on it and was very pleased how well it performed. I'm going to enjoy riding to work next week Phil

So with a good set of diaphragms smaller mains, smaller pilots and another good cleaning "Addie" is now ready and waiting for the "old boot" to return and take her to XSNorth.

                        • Thanks James. I think Addie is now truly fixed Smooth power through the entire rev range. Diapraghms from ELDR and all the previous work by BDF provided the foundation for your success
                          Thanks to to you all.
