You sure about that? Let's see what Jim claimed for that bike:-

"it has new brakes tires 54000 km runs great carbs all done new carb boots and fork seals this bike needs nothing everything works this bike ride great"

Compared to what Rick sez about it:-

" - - Two floats had holes in them from rubbing on incorrect float bowls. We still need two bowls.
Head had two bent exhaust valves due to improper shims. - - - Used but serviceable valve springs donated by BDF. New valve seals installed
We replaced the timing chain as it had no adjustment room left. Stripped spark plug hole repair donated by Prong Built. - - -
Oil pan drain bolt female threads broken off. Pan had lots of sparkley bits inside, likely from trans. Oil pan donation BDF. - - -
Steering head bearings and races need changing Every other bearing on the bike needs to be checked, cleaned and repacked.
    Fork seals need changing.
Rotors need to be cleaned up and checked as do pads, calipers and masters and fluid changed.
Middle drive and final drive oil change.
Needs Tires, mirrors, battery, fuel, oil and air filters, and mufflers
Exhaust pipes were welded with extensions, used stock pipes donated by BDF "

It's said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but this is f**king ridiculous.

      Fred,

It could be this one but I don't believe it's the Trans Canada Edition that has been described as the one Phil bought. Hopefully Rick or Phil will chime in.

That would be the bike Phil bought, I was over to Rick's to see it the other day. I also had the pleasure to see Rick's 80 SG "hotrod" and his stock 79 and must say Phil has the right man helping him with his bike .

          Hi Tinman,
let's see what Jim sez about this one:-

"i have a 1981 venture that a guy backed out on this bike has 95000 km runs good looks good needs tires and brakes and it will be ready to go. first person with 1000 takes it"

Well, that's closer to Rick's diagnosis, anyway.
I must admit to paying Cdn$1,000 for my XS11SG in far worse cosmetic shape. Mind you, it ran OK and it stopped too, once I'd gotten the brakes unlocked & rebuilt.

I thinks Jim's description is fair but Big Daddy Funk's standard are high and it looks to me he loves working on these bikes.

Yep, thats the bike. It's dark blue and came with the Trans Canada fairing lowers. I would say the bent valves were a suprise. As for the rest of the stuff I would say it's typical for a unmaintained 30 yr old bike. My own bikes started out that way.
Once we get some more parts in I might see if I can prevail on Tinman to come down on a weekend and blitz this bike with Phil and I. Phil can help with the dirty work and serve drinks.
                Thx Rick

Now go back and look at the pictures and tell me which bike has the Trans Canada lowers! I went and looked at the first bike when he first posted it up here.

                      Ummm...

Yeah I see what you mean Paul. I'll double check the VIN# just to make sure.
I do know that the other bike sold first. Juggy listed it as a bagger and Phil's as a Venturer. The other bike has a Vetter trunk and Trans Canada lowers. I'm guessing they were both Venturer's. Phil's bike has the same super size tank with the white decal which has been painted over. It also has the identical Yamaha Venturer Fairing and lowers, side bags, rails, seat etc.
Does anyone know if there was such a thing as a 1981 XS1100H without all the accessories or were they all Venturer's?
I love a good mystery, Anyone have any thoughts?

                        Hi Fred & Paul,
Yes that is indeed what I bought. When I took delivery. the mirrors were missing and no top box. a substitute top box was provided and the picture does not show how bad the paint on the tank is.
I feel much better now thanks Paul. The pictures do lead one to belive it to be in better condition than it turned out.

Now I have to go and re read all your posts. I think someone is suggesting i may not have the one pictured?

This would be a good time for me to acknowledge your contribution and lead on this project. Yes it has turned into a project. I can say that without your encouragement and enthusiasm i would have given up on it by now.

                            It is a Venturer

I thought I posted this info. So here it is again.
The 1981 XS1100 H only came with the full Venturer package. It is listed as the most rare factory built tour bike. It only came in Indigo blue. Phil's bike is a 1981 XS1100 H. It does have the full factory fairings including Trans Canada Lowers. I'm guessing they were not installed in the photo's. None of the Venturer's came with a rear trunk from the factory.
For a rare bird it's amazing that Juggy found two. I'm not sure but I think the lower KM Venturer was sold to someone in the Ottawa area. I wonder if he knows what he's got.
Just thought I'd share the info. Thx Rick
