      carb kits,m/c kit

georgefix is a great supplier of parts, when i got my rebuild kit i contacted him about all the extra jets(110,120,125)and 42.5 pilots and he told me what jets i should be using(high alt)and even sent an extra set of 45s to match the mods i have done.

Yes, it's in three parts, and you can no longer go out on it, but it's here. I think another twenty years, and it will just be a pile of something in the surf....

That's about when I was walking down with my two kids, and fishing off the boat as well! I worked swing shift, so I'd walk the two down with a stroller, fish for about an hour, and push everyone back up the hill. I lived off of Rio Del Mar Blvd. at the time.

              where i stand

So latest update , still waiting for parts and I am wondering about my fuel problems , petcocks leak and it seem so do the float valves. I've got new float valves on the way and rebuild kits as well for the taps , my method for checking the float valves is to blow into the bowl valves when the carbs are upright , is this a decent test? I cleaned all the float valve seats and needles with simichrome but they still seem to leak?? And any tips on petcock rebuilds??

For checking the float valves for leaks, the bench test is the way to go. Read post #2 in this thread...

                  Garth,

I used both of those test methods on mine. First the Prom method of upside down. Then with the bowls on and upside right check by blowing into fuel line/Tees.

I had a bit of an issue getting mine to seal, so I wanted to make REALLY sure.

I have the "inexpensive" version of the Mighty Vac, and it works well. I use it on cars as well as bikes, and makes bleeding brakes a one man job. You can also use it to check vacuum operated parts, such as petcocks, advance unit, etc.

I bought the $30 version form autozone to bleed my rear brakes. I also use it as my vacuum gage for synching my carbs.

                          brake down!

So I finaly got the brakes done , I was having a really hard time with the rear brake and wasn't having much luck, no flow at all , so I pulled the back half off the rear brake line and found out it was blocked , so I tried to ream it out with a guitar string and had no luck. Then I took half of the line from my parts bike(unclogged) slapped back together and SUCCESS. As for the front I had forgotten to tighten all the fittings on the new S/S lines. So fixed that and viola font and back done with mucho pressure so just waiting on new float valves and petcock rebuild kits and I should have the GO and the WHOA, next , fix headlight probably just a relay, and clean ,polish and redo the suspension and new tires and RIDE!!!

                              damn work

Unfortunatly I will probably have to work. ;( . With that I will be stuck to day trips until maybe july. At least the 78 is running good , it is so nice to have a good running bike to hop on after wrenching on a project!!

                                runs good!

So got the new float valves and petcock rebuilds in and guess what no puddle of gas under my bike! Needs a little sync runs pretty good. Getting a little smoke from the left pipe and hoping it loosen the rings when I put a few miles on her. Still need to put on the footpegs on and sort out the headlight
