LOL! I think I was thinking along the lines of known issues with these bikes, like the 2nd gear problem and the wonky electric box and our aging coils. You see many threads about those issues, but there was only one thread pointed to about a seizing middle gear. It just doesn't seem like the drivetrain (other than the 2nd gear issue) is a major design deficiency of these bikes.
A friend of mine was asked about issues surrounding buying a BMW tourer. He said they were good but that you had to service the shaft drive every 60k miles. Now I know we ride our elevens xsively, but the POs of my '81 special only did about half that number!
Even with the new stainless line, my stock xs11 rear brake master cylinder (rebuilt) felt a little weak slowing down the new 200 rear meat, so I broke out the digital caliper and made a bracket to bolt the Hayabusa Rear Master to the xs11 frame. The simple bracket dimensions as follows....
What an improvement over the stock MC! I Can now slow down from a higer rate of speed and not worry about the rear tire locking up. I realize the fatter meat helps in the scenario, but I recall all to often locking-up the rear 140 tire and skidding sideways....Maybe I should just slow down!!!
As for fitment, It will clear the stock xs11 swingarm by a mile.

Tried posting earlier??? This simple bracket will allow you to bolt on a New Hayabusa Rear brake Master Cylinder and will clear the swingarm and allow you to keep the stock rear brake line. I took the chop out for a run and what an improvement. Stops on a dime with no rear lock-up I put the reservoir off the back of the electrics bracket with a $0.19 angle bracket from Ace Hardware...
You can get the '00-07 Busa rear Master Cylinders off ebay for 25-35 Bucks all day long....will take pics 2-nite after work....dimensions here.....

Here's the MC, attaches right to the inside break pedal lever with this spacer. My stainless line loops back around to the chainguard/line holder on the SSSA..
The foot boots were new and I did't waste them....These were Plug'N'Play also right off the Busa controls....
I will be working on converting these Dual 55w Halogens to L.E.D.s if not cost prohibitive

well I don't think I will be able to go with the ZXR swing arm. They don't seem too plentiful and sell for 140 or more before shipping costs. For 140 I can likely get the 11s swing arm made for me by the lad who will also do the frame reinforcing. i'll keep you posted when things start to come together.

The other thread here. I actually am finished with all the mechanics. Now just doing some PURTY'n. I am not a painter. So she will be flat black and chrome with touches of billet everywhere. I am helping Member Scappod mate the ZRX swingarm to the xs11 and am doing another ZRX swingarm along side to get all the spacers correct on another bare frame I have. After I have had my fun on this bike, I will sell it and finish my last custom(which is half-done in my attic) and will be my keeper....chop
These are the custom spacers that centers the ZRX1100 Swingarm/wheel centerline to the XS1100 frame Centerline
This is what it looks like before it goes on the xs1100 frame
The right-side XS11 frame bolt has been turned down 5mm to make up for the right side compression fitting/spacer that goes over the custom pivot shaft and compresses the swingarm using stock xs11 swinarm bolts...

the 4th spacer from the right is just needed to keep the stock 28mm needle bearing from walking out on that side. The left needle bearing inside the swingarm cannot move....The two thrust washers are roller bearings that will see very little back and forth movement. If you want, you could find the correct size radiator hose to go over them after greasing. which is what I will do...

How are you liking the new ride? I even reused the R1 shock on the single sided swingarm I like it so much. I won't brag again On the miniscule price I paid for that work of art. Back to the lesson. This would also be a very easy mod to do to the frame and adapt this ZRX swingarm....Would also be on the right side as your mod and would look even more Trick. BTW...The right side shock to adapt the zrx SA needs to be set to the right by only 15mm and the left needs spaced out 34mm....I weigh 220 LB. and had the R1 shock on it's lowest preload too....Chop
