      Chain Drive conversion parts

XSchop, I saw your awesome chain drive conversion parts on a guys webpage in Canada doing a modified XS1100 project. When will you be making more of the units and will they still be $350. I can handle getting the other parts required. I am a motorcycle head porter and machinist by trade with 14 years experience working for first Superbike Mike Engineering in FL and Lee Shierts of Lee's Performance in NC. I have always loved retro aircooled fours and the XS motor is like a bigger better KZ900/1000 to me only with a lighter crank arrangement and a way sweeter combustion chamber from the factory. Everything about it is cool except for the shaft drive limiting the mounting of modern rubber. Is this the only way of contacting you or do you have a website? I just got my 78 XS1100E so I don't need the conversion part immediately. Look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Mike Barron

Just for the purpose of reviving an old thread, will this middle drive also work on an XJ650? Just curious. You mentioned it working on a XS/XJ750, and I have an XJ650 and would consider this item as a good investment... Only since 125mph from the stock gearing gets boring after a while...

              Bill, you have a PM!
Also, after just looking at the two, I answered my own question, the drives between my xs11 and xj650 are most definately not the same! Although it would be sweet to have a chain drive on both... Now my only decision is do I buy the xs11 one from you, or machine my own? Hmmm... A better question is are you still making these?

                  Interested in middle drive

Brand new to the bike, haven't even got it in the garage yet, but I'm picking up a 1980 XS1100 Special from a guy I work with for free. He's neglected it and it needs brakes (pads rusted to rotors), carbs cleaned and tires. This will be my first real chopper project and would absolutely love to do a chain drive wide tire.

Has the run been made yet because I'd love to get my middle unit changed.

2500 mile inpection and 14T sprocket install

Scroll down to the 2nd post. I didn't even have to change out the sealed bearings, swappped on a new 14T sprocket and been on a long trek today.... 750 FD gears are back!

I have been wanting to see if a true bolt-on chain-drive conversion housing can be designed for the V-max....I designed one for the XS750/850 and the XS1100 which are all shaft drive. I have my own CNC machine and sell the housings with all hardware for $450....I was curious what size billet I...

Tried to edit the last reply....

After roughly 2500 miles there is no play/looseness in the sealed bearings. I was surprised of how little wear was on the 13T....

                        I stuck on a 14T and now I'm back to 38-40 MPGs...

The splines are as new as when I installed it....

I had previously ground out about 3mm of the case near the sprocket for the 14T on Recommendation from PGGG .....Judging by the clearance I think a 15T is not a problem...But unnecessary since I'm as high geared as I want to be....

                            XS11 Chain

PM me if interested. I will only make a run of 3 or more. It actually is more cost effective because I get the billet on discount that way. I am ramping up and getting ready to design and build a Bolt-on chaindrive for the Vmax and will be busy this summer
The big question for the Vmax conversion is answered now. Just a simple sealed outter bearing can be used with longevity.

i'd be interested still in the chaindrive conversion. I plan to build my own swingarm so all i need is the conversion. I still plan on keeping the springs though. So yeah whats the price on just the conversion.
Yes it's a damn nice bike, yes it's in REALLY good condition, yes it would be a shame to chop it, BUT damn how cool would it look with ape hangers?
