Timing Pickup Question

OK that worked on the tubs with a change depending on if the chock was 1/2 or fully engaged. I will set up the floats tomorrow after work. I can blow very easily through the fuel supply lines.
I just have this gut feeling that the issue is electrical even if 3 and 4 are on different coils. I will however have to reinstall the carbs to do a switch off with plug wires.
NOW .. speaking about electoral the bypass wiring i did from the TCI to the coils are just 2 wires eleco-taps into the factory wiring running from right at the TCI connection block to the coils. I should also check that 1 inch of wire between the electro-tap and the TCI unit I guess. Who knows at this point.

Rob,
Your timing light told the tale.
Either those plugs are so fouled that they won't fire. (carbs)
OR
You have bad connections at BOTH plugs. (less likely)
Like others wrote, check the plugs for fouling, recheck your floats on 3&4.
And, by the way, DON"T RUN IT WITHOUT THE BALLAST RESISTOR. or you'll be shopping for a new TCI soon.

Blow through the starter jet tube??? You have to open the "choke" to blow any air through that thing.

Is this normal ... with the carbs on the bench upside down should I be able to blow through the upright tubes at the bracket of the carbs. This is the tube that goes through the gasket. I currently can not blow air through any of them. Also the floats on #3 and 4 are slightly lower then the ones on #1 and 2

Oops I see that has been answered already. I am a bit behind in the thread. Be careful about blowing carb cleaner through the starter jets if the diaphragms and caps are installed. If I remember correctly, the starter jet opening is in the same airspace as the rubber diaphragm!

OK the only thing I could find wrong with the carbs was that the floats needed to be adjusted for height. Everything else looks good to go. I adjusted all floats to the same height (1 inch from gasket surface with gaskets not in position to top of floats).
I just finished installing the carbs and the issue remains. Pulled #4 plug and it is black but that's because the cylinder is no firing properly so reading plugs is not of much use at this point.
I am just about to go to the auto store to buy a cheap set of plug wires so I can try the switch out of the plug wires positions and discover if the issue switches out with the wires. I will keep you posted.

UPDATE ... IT'S NOT CARBS
UPDATE OK I just finished the plug wire switch out between 1 and 4 and 2 and 3 and sure as S**T the issue moved to #1 & 2 and 3 and 4 are A OK.
SO I have NEW factory pickups
New Accel coils
New used TCI box
Should I rewire parallel to the existing harness from the pick up block connector to the TCI box? And from there to the coils?
Is there any REAL way to test the TCI box. I have read about a simple test but also read that that test is useless.
What are the chances that both TCI boxes could have the same fault?

Can I eliminate the red/white wire as the fault because it is common to both coils?

Rob,
You're making it too difficult. The problem is the high tension wires from the coils and or the caps! Check the continuity for the "bad" wires, pull them back off the coils. Check how they are connected to the caps and to the coils. You may have gotten that Dielectric grease on more than you thought!?

Hey Randy, DiverRay,
Feel free to jump in here anytime!! I vaguely remember reading about a dual tower coil being damaged by a bad plug on one lead!? So...even though Rob's coils are relatively new, could they be internally damaged so that they are not providing even power to both leads from the same coil?!
Rob, your PU coils are okay, your TCI is okay, the problem is in the coils or the high tension leads of the coils, not the wires that control or power the coils!

Hey Rob,
I found that thread!!
Coils going bad on one side!
The jist of this thread is that you will need to test that red/white power lead wire for the proper amount of voltage. If the voltage is low, it may only generate enough power to fire one side of the coil, but not the other. I think I need some CoQ10...my memory isn't what it used to be!!
