Would it be feasible to pour EvapoRust in the bottom of a plastic storage bin to use as a dip tank over and over? Does it evaporate or dry out?

You can do that and the company encourages re-use but you might want to filter out particulate matter. Yes, it does evaporate.

i also asked if I could dilute it with something, perhaps water to allow a slower process but with a larger volume of mass to deal with, like filling a gas tank with the dilute solution and waiting days for it to act. The answer was do not dilute it, leave it concentrated and turn the tank, shaking it every so often to cover all parts.

        It works beautifully.

There is a thicker, gel-like, Evaporust that I've only seen sold in quart cans. It can be applied with a brush. Turns green as it works. I think it would work fine on exhaust pipes.

so if I use "Evapo-Rust" or Metal Rescue, i won't have to use Phosphoric Acid or Muriatic acid in this article?

            http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143

and if so, do i still need to rinse it with baking soda + water, and then once more with acetone/alcohol? (i reckon i still need the latter part right? to get rid all the evapo-rust chemical...)

Directions say to rinse with water, dry and apply a rust inhibitor. For a fuel tank I would rinse with water, then denatured alchohol to remove the moisture.

If you use Evaporust or Metal Rescue, DO NOT follow with acid. Since you don't use acid, there is no need to follow with baking soda to neutralize it. Follow the instructions on the bottle. You may have to rinse it with water. Follow the instructions to avoid flash rust.

If following with a tank liner, I would rinse with lacquer thinner and then line it.

If yer gonna line that tank, stay away from Kreem! Use POR-15 or RedKote or just go to a radiator shop and have them line it.

ack, i don't have denatured alcohol, and that gas tank sealer stuff ain't cheap too. i guess i will let the pros at a radiator shop do it instead.

okay, i thought Evaporust / Metal Rescue is some kind of acid too.

                      Nope. It's not acid.

I have had good luck with Caswell"s epoxy. Much less prep work.
