Nice project and great thread to read through. That has been a hell of a good build and looks like has built many great memories. Love that you did that with the KZ750B, good on you.

Boy, it's been cold out. I haven't seen another bike in months. Pretty lonely out on the road these days. Sometimes I will see a car or a truck with a "Ride to Live - Live to Ride" type sticker in the window. But deep inside, we both know they don't. It's sad.

Wow LAB3, 60???? (I could go for some 60°)
It's funny how every region has it's "cold set point". For instance, the early New Hampshire swap meets are about a hundred miles north of here the first week of May. It has been, on occasion, cold up there and we all bundle up and ride into town to walk around the swap meet. However, some of the locals are walking around the meet with t-shirts like it's summer out because compared to what they are used to, the present temps are, to them, warm.

Yeah, It's 20-30F around here, and I'm still wearing shorts! I DO have a great jacket I bought in France years ago to keep the core warm, though. Bike is parked because they use brine to keep the roads from icing up.Ray Matteis

Ray, I have battled salt brine for over twenty years now and I wouldn't bring one of my good bikes out in it because of the damage it inflicts. However, I built 3 bikes specifically for winter use so I could still ride all year. The layup was too depressing for me and this is how I dealt with the problem. I use Salt Away to keep the damage at a minimum.

The Guzzi has 225,000 miles on it and has never had any motor work done to it. Doesn't burn a drop of oil. I use 5W/40 oil in the winter for cold starts. The KZ1000 is my Alaska bike. It's a MKII. I'm probably to only person in the United States that is riding one in the winter.

Had that last one on my goldwing, never came across another one to replace it. That and "I love the smell of burning rice"1980 XS1100G
