I'll be hitting my camp spot near Daytona in about a week, something tells me there won't be too many other bikes with Michigan plates there that don't have a pickup and or trailer parked next to it.

In 86 I was on a brief layoff from work and a guy who was a somewhat well known pinstriper at the time had just completed a covered trike and trailer combo he made from two difficult sized home heating oil tanks. He asked me if I'd ride down to Daytona with him to help him out at his booth, he needed someone to take off tanks, fenders etc if the owners either didn't want to or weren't able to do so.

I froze my butt off down to about the Ohio/Kentucky line but the roads where clear. On the way back we hit snow right at the Michigan/Ohio line and I chickened out, got a room for a couple of nights to wait out the weather. He kept going and was only about 15 miles shy of being home and ended up in the ditch wrecking the trike, trailer and himself in the process. Putting a bike on trailer back then was very possible but it was just something you didn't do!

Getting a room in the middle of a snow storm while riding a bike is not chickening out.

I went to a toy run in Chicopee MA a few years back on a New England November day back when a famous local motorcycle lawyer John Hey-Man (real name encrypted) drove by my wife and I in the passenger seat of an SUV. 5 minutes later he appeared on his motorcycle with his pirate suit on. That was as Credit Card as it gets. I think I still have some pictures of that event.

Total score finding this place thanks to a lady friend who grew up about 50 miles west of here. $100 for 10 days camping with hot showers on site, a HUGE swap meet in the parking lot, live band every night and the big event this Friday all included. It's at the Volusia County Fairgrounds near DeLand which is about 30 minutes or so from the madness on Daytona's main Street. There's a biker hangout known as The Cabbage Patch about 10 minutes away and it's a pretty hopping scene there too.
