And the sound you are hearing lets me know that the vent IS a problem. You are not getting a steady supply of fuel. and the bike will not run correctly until the vent is working properly again. It could be that was the biggest problem all along!

Jonny, you might as well clean the vent in the cap, it comes apart fairly easily. If it's blocked, the carbs will starve for fuel. I would remove the entire cap from the tank first, it is held on by just one screw.

Yeah, that's one of my next to-dos.
QUESTION: Is there supposed to be enough vacuum to make a high pitched squeal at the gas cap? It stopped whe nI popped the cap-obviously.
And when I turned the petcocks back to run, from off, there was discernible bubbling in the tank. Never noticed before.
Of course these are new hearing aides and maybe I just never heard it before. Wondering if vacuum is sucking out gas even when the bike is off.

Thank you Bikerphil and Larrym! Ok I’ll get those Tees ordered. I have an uncle living in Wisconsin who is coming for a visit, feels like most of his luggage will be spare parts for my bike 🥴.

Back to da matter at hand? (O_o)

The replacement long brass fuel T's should be the same for both early and late type carbs, the short ones are for the upper vents on the early type carbs only. Larry is correct.

Larrym, looking back I found this post which dealt partially with the fuel tees and interchangeability.

    But it was in 2014…

For my needs, on my 79 special (3H3...), the LONG Tees from Sirius were a poifect replacement fOaR the Fuel Tees and the SHORT Tees were a poifect fit fOaR the Vent Tees. (O_O)

Seems that on my 79, the OEM Vent Tees frum the factory were way shorter than the OEM fuel Tees. I just went with getting long fuel Tees and short Vent Tees cuz that's the way I found things. (◕‿◕)

Hopefully, Bikerphil can chime in and confirm that the Long Tees are wut you need AND that the 80/81 carbs don't even NEED vent tees cuz they have an extra hole in the intake horn just fOaR that purpose... (O_o)
Thanks Larry! Yup, my carbs don’t have vent tees. I’m hoping the fuel tees are the same but I haven’t ordered yet because it appears the parts numbers for early and late model fuel tees are different. And while I have the carbs off the bike…

Im reading about your upcoming bike rallies, it’s a dream of mine to tour the States on a bike some day. Ho hum, one day I guess

Bikerphil, are the carb fuel T’s between older (79/80) models interchangeable with the newer (80/81) models?

The parts numbers are different ( 3H3 1498800 vs 2H7 1498800, I presume because the earlier are Mark 11 and later models Mark 111?). And the earlier Tees are shorter than the later ones going by previous posts.

This topic has been discussed in earlier posts, best one ‘Carb Tee repairs’’ , thanks guys 💪 but I’m still unclear on this. There’s a place Sirius Consolidated Inc that makes aftermarket Tees for the early carbs. Will these fit my ‘81 carbs?

Desk person comes in and says who owns the MC? Posse says it's leaking something.
lmao. Made it home with the throttle all the way out. Didn't bog as bad as before. So there's that.

'm going to look at it close; when I get the gumption to start again.
lmao ( well at least I didn't cry or get angry. I'm still happy I got it back together.
So I guess it's the berrymen's treatment and complete rebuild.
Can anybody give me a link to gen part rebuild kit?
I'm presuming, Cajun, that a complete tear down and rebuild is what you suggest because of what you suspect is in the emulsion tubes? Start with a soak in berrymen's right?
That is what we have all really been saying. Here is a maintenance tip that helps to get you going in the right direction. Carb Cleaning 101 - XS11.club Forums. There are also videos available out on youtube that help.
