It is a sad day that the old site is gone and very much appreciate the years of community it provided.

bikerphil , I copied the content to our new xs11.club site. 100% of the forum content was transferred. The old site also had some static website content like maintenance and how to articles. There was no saving that now deprecated content management system. So a group of volunteers re-posted all of that content, pictures and all, as forum posts on xs11.club. So now all we have to maintain is the forum, none of that static website content that had its own user controls.

I did try to coordinate the upgrade in place but needed additional access to xs11.com which fell on deaf ears. I then tried to coordinate a move to a new server but keeping the same domain name, but I needed access to the domain name settings. In the end, I setup a new site and a new domain and requested a forwarding rule be applied at xs11.com to xs11.club. That way google would have updated all of its links over time. Unfortunately that never happened.

With xs11.com gone, xs11.club will start rising up the search results. And if payment on xs11.com's domain name truly lapsed, then in a few months we should be able to buy it. May or may not be useful to have it, I doubt any search engine will keep it ranked highly after a few months of the site being offline. But if its cheap enough, it would be good to finally setup the redirect to xs11.club.

Many of us will probably meet our demise still tinkering with these bikes. I know I will never sell my original LG. The others I don't have quite the same affection for.

          Jonathan,
I too want to express a thank you for all you have done and continue to do to keep this site going.

You bought your LG new, over 40 years ago? I get it. I still have and enjoy the XS650 I brought 40 years ago.

I've had XS1100SG for 20 years and over 100,000 miles. I'm attached to it as well.

Awesome looking 650. I purchased one new and then traded it in on the LG. Wish I could have afforded to keep both. Back then I was financially strapped to buy the LG. Going from 1600 plus tax and tag to 4200 plus was a big step. You could buy a nissan or rather Datsun pickup for about 5200 back then. Just loved the look of the LG and had to have one.

Yeah I'd like an XS650 myself but I'd need two, one to ride and one to chop. They make a ton of aftermarket goodies to give it an old school look on a budget.

Yes, they're quite the blank slate. I have four of them or five of them. Choppers are losing popularity right now. Resto mods and scramblers are in. I'm doing a minimalist thing here, so maybe it fits in the café classification. Whatever. It's mine.

One version I've yet to see and really appeals to me is a circa 30's-40's hardtail road bike version with a pogo stick saddle, springer front end with a fat, wide tire and fender to match.

I do, it sits stuffed in the back of my shed though unfortunately. Haven't ridden in several years.
