The tank washer isn't just a fender washer, it's thicker and it's hardened so it doesn't dish and curl up around the bolt when it's cinched down. $1.56 from Partzilla for washer# 90201-08310-00.
The tank bolt is an M8 1.25 that's 12mm long with a 12mm socket head. They're also used for rear sprockets on chain drive so they're also hardened just like the washer and they're ninety-five cents from Partzilla. BOLT (661) M8-1.25 x 12mm (97313-0812-00). I snagged a hardened bolt that's a little longer (14mm?) from the hardware store for a quarter.
Here's an Enduro kit with a picture of six of the little 12mm dudes:-

If you have an ACE hardware close by, they have the bolts. 8mm X 15mm bolt, it will be a 13mm socket/wrench. I like the Stainless steel bolts, as they don't rust easily. You can also find a SS 1" fender washer, 5/16", that will fit.Ray Matteis

At the risk of creating a "situation":
Phil, I planned some extra fuel line to run such a tube. Where should I make it go?

A single bolt, M8 from memory, with a large washer goes in the rear rubber mount to secure the tank to the bike. two rubber "doughnuts"(donuts) on the frame fit into "C' cups on the underside of the tank(in the tunnel)
remember to attach the 2 pin electrical connection for the fuel gauge , and lead the wire so it does not get pinched. Also connect a drain tube to the fuel overflow nipple.
This talk of C cups and nipples is quite exciting

Yeah it's a pretty blue, but just because you're old is no excuse to buy a bagger. Fortunately I have wrenches.

hi Puskrat,
It's just a drain for the overflow so straight down the middle ahead of the battery past any obstructions and long enough to get into the area of the centre stand.

About lights on the dash...they should come on after you crank the engine, I think there's a relay that switches after few revolutions from the engine.Nick

5/16" or 1/4" fuel lines? one or more of my sections got mislaid during the carburetor work. The lettering on the ootside doesn't include diameter."Venturered" 80 XS1100G - "DoraMax" getting sort of resto/destro ed.

Only because I bought 5.16 on impulse, no doubt. Imagine the power I have. had I purchased quarter inch line on April 7, 2017, the result would have been Yamaha making a design change in 1970s regarding fuel lines for the xs1100 model. The butterfly effect implications are overwhelming."Venturered" 80 XS1100G - "DoraMax" getting sort of resto/destro ed.

I've 79 carbs on an 80 bike. The carb ID thread says the early carbs have have four hoses, and two are vacuum lines that go to the airbox. My eyes say my 79 carbs have four hoses. I'm too dense to now know which ones get fuel lines and which are vacuum lines, and where do those vacuum lines go? Are they also supposed to go to said airbox? The obvious answer will not work, because i OBVIOUSLY don't remember which hose barbs I removed the fuel hoses from. *sigh*"Venturered" 80 XS1100G - "DoraMax" getting sort of resto/destro ed.

The two lower hoses are fuel inlets and go to the fuel taps. The two upper hoses are vents and go to the barbs on the air box. Make sure the barbs on the air box are drilled through to the inside as the 80 and later airbox were not drilled, the later type carbs didn't require venting through there.2H7 (79) owned since '89
