Is someone ready to NOT speak in whispers and innuendos? If so, I think the kidney belt is like a backbrace? I can see a racerider wearing one. I used to get a nasty crick in my middle back sitting on a bench jonboat seat, and a proper brace would support correct posture.

Before or after? That's one of those situations where the order of operations really doesn't matter. If it does then, yeah, you're definitely doing something wrong!

SO...for those too young to get that reference, in the old days, like the 1800's or such,
the stiff ribbings/slats within women's corsets(an extreme Girdle) were made from Baleen/Whale bone. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corset

That particular OIL "came" from, was extracted/processed from Sperm Whale blubber.....not from some other liquid source!

They weren't just for women either!

btw I am now the happy owner of a smallest, lightest DOT helmet. Available in gloss black, I chose (pusk)rat rod black. I have a blaze orange bandana slated to cover it. Visibility is everything.

I can't figure out if you're removing the fairing and trying to put the horns back on the frame after removing the fairing mount bracket or what.

Forum member Andreas Weiss may have the horn bracket lurking in a corner somewhere and sometimes the bracket shows up on eBay.
Search for part number 2H9-2134Y-00-00.

thanks gents. There are two 'straps' hanging off the fairing bracket. Were, I should say. Nothing like taking something apart to find out how it's made. The two straps can be attached to a plain flat bar which i will attach via the mounting holes previously securing the fairing bracket.

I'm doubting the origin story of the body work on this bike. I was told the luggage and fairing were swap meet material. However, The tapped holes in my front tubes were not shop adds.

Mine are on short bkts on fairing mount. Ive removed said fairing with the intent of leaving it off. On Stds with no fairing, how were horns mounted. Am I closing in on the "f" word? I really didnt want to make something

Hi Puskrat,
If you do need to "F" something it is only a bit of flat steel about
25mm wide (1inch) and 1/8" thick.
If you have the same bracket as mine the horn looks like this.

There's a horn bracket that bolts to a frame tab and the horns are bolted to the outer ends of the bracket.

The frame tab is the one below the frame head with the two holes in it where the fairing mount bracket was bolted.
