This dual port adapter works fine in my truck, guess where it's going.

I changed regulators and no difference. I'll go try and get another adapter here in a little bit. This one may just be too sensitive for this charging system.
Not the low volts that's trippin' that breaker Greg, it's the increase in amp load due to a poor connections that's trippin' it.

Kinda' an apples and oranges thing, if that makes sense.

            Well Greg, now ya know...

Your XS can only support 1 usb port... not 2.

Well, after taking the bike apart 3 times and cleaning every connection I could get to fairly easy, changing out the regulator, and doubling up on the grounds in the fairing with absolutely no change I went and got another power outlet that works. Go figure.

My old one that died after going through a HEAVY downpour in Chattanooga, Tn was a dual port and it worked great for years.

My old one that died after going through a HEAVY downpour in Chattanooga, Tn was a dual port and it worked great for years.[/QUOTE .........you know Greg, this issue came on gradual on my Venturer, until it was at the point I was chasing my tail and finially carb issues.......unknowingly, when it reached that point, my carbs were actually havin' ignition issues. Scott will even verify the wiring on my bike is original and as immaculate as they come. Obviously makes no difference, the constant current exposure screw with those contacts over decades, not only visibly, but the physical components of the brass, making it less easy for the current to flow(resistance). Being a certified welder and somewhat of a meatalurgist, I tottally get that, and it definitely an issue, and becomes worse if not addressed from the get-go. Just a word to the wise buddy.
Your fancy breaker accessory port was an early warning as to what's to follow in the future if the time isn't taken to clean even just those couple switches that ARE part of the running PRIMARY circuit.

                  Meant to say power adapter.

I'm not doubting what your saying Brant, just doubting that this is what was causing this issue.

My carbs aren't having ignition issues, my power adapter was having compatibility issues.

Second statement, one and the same, (but your tryin' hard to seperate.

Third staement, Lack of compatability comes from lack of the all important smoke that's missin' elswhere, as you've previously already stated showing the numbers.
Hey it's all good, and fun for me, so carry on.

Brant, you still haven't explained to me the difference between 10.5v (example) with the engine off and 10.5 v (example) with the engine idling.

                      Make me understand.

No difference there, but that wasn't the case in #17. With the key on volts and key off volts at battery, that's still a substantual loss, even if the headlite is on with key ON position. For me, that would put a cell of the battery in suspect........may not condem the batt., but a possible tell-tale for future referance.
Obviously, runnin' the red wire just by-passed the problem area, along with the batt. volts dropping EVEN more, with the, at the LEAST a 1.5v added loss at the fuses in #19.
There ya' go..........your just gonna have to 'bite the bullet'......... does kinda suck, after wrenchin' all day for a livin'.

The battery is 12 5v alone. Battery is good.

As I said before, another adapter works fine, the bike is running great, better than most, and I envision recleaning connections in my future.

                          The end.

Just to add, I removed the fuses from the fuse panel and there is 11.94v at the brown wire KOEO. It drops a little with each fuse I put back in.

Hmmmm......not good....those ole' brass tangs, besides becoming brittle, tend not to carry current freely with age, even tho they may still 'look' good.

What in the WORLD would that have to do with the supplied voltage to the main wire?

It stands to reason that the voltage would drop as each accessory is powered up.
