  • We Need Your Input: Trouble Accessing the Site?

    Hey there folks,

We need your input regarding a persistent site access problem that some members have continued to report having, even after we have upgraded the site to it's own server.

The problem that's been reported is that folks see the SITE NOT AVAILABLE message when trying to view the site. There are a few tools that we also want to provide to help folks determine whether the site is really down for everyone or just you. So....click on this link, and then save it as a favorite to be able to use if/when you get the site unavailable message.

    http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/#

This next link is a Google Translation site, but it apparantly will act like a Proxy to show you the site from a different access direction.

"Google Translate (Chinese) Version of the site"-
    http://translate.googleusercontent.c...hlka0eFD9L2qAQ

SO....I'm posting this and will attempt to make it a poll.

We had thought that putting the site on it's own server would have eliminated the access problem, but it seems to still be occuring albeit intermittently, and so we are trying to get a better understanding of who all it's affecting, how often, what part of the country you're in to see if it's regionally affected, etc.!

    Thanks for your assistance.

No option for midwesterners but a few days ago (maybe a couple weeks?, been very busy) the site was inaccessible for about three days.

        Sorry about that Nate/Tat,

There were only 10 Poll choices MAX, so that's why I only put east/west, couldn't have 12 choices!

I forgot also...for the LURKERS....folks that are NOT REGISTERED and therefore can not post/reply/vote.....feel free to use the CONTACT US link at the bottom of the page to send me a short note IF you've had access problems, we'd like to hear from as many folks as possible!!! TIA.

Put down Alberta Canada as one that has missed about 3 times since changeover. Not sure which option to vote with.

                Australian visitor here,
I'm an infrequent visitor but never had a problem accessing
I also get on the pommy site and some of them have mention not being able to get access at various times.

One thing I have noticed TC. My email notifications aren't very reliable.

Sometimes I don't get them at all and sometimes I'll get the same one for one post repeatedly for days.

In the Midwest. Occasionally I am unable to access the site. Usually if I try later or the next day it works.

                      Hey Greg,

I guess the site must think you're a slow reader with a short term memory problem !? JJ!

I want to thank you all for your feedback and votes. It's my hope that this will provide more diagnostic info for the Webmaster and the Hosting site to be able to better determine the problems and apply the appropriate fix.

                        Ha Ha Ha ha.............very funny.

                        Maybe your right about that.

When I get notifications and click on the link in my email I get transported to somewhere in the middle of the thread, not on the latest post. Sometimes not even on the same page.

Site now works FLAWLESSLY since the upgrade. Now ALWAYS get quick access and NEVER any slowdowns or hangups or errors like before the migration.

Sometimes certain things come up very slowly for me. If I click on the JOTD or "what have you done to your bike today" they will load very slowly. As these threads do have many pages, I kind of attribute the speed is due to that.
Over all the site seems to be very slow lately. Maybe just me or my puter but it is painful some days.
