I had no idea they called a crescent wrench a spanner... A spanner is a shock adjustment tool....

The short answer? No. I was able to salvage the spark plug hole, but with everything buttoned up, she gets fuel, air, and random explosions. Probably due to a lack of cowbell.

So I am going to tear it all apart again, upgrade the coils, wires and plugs, try to tackle that seal deep in the ignition cover, and switch out the oil filter bolt finally. After all that...maybe I will have a running motorcycle. Maybe.

                    Joab,
Find the actual problem before you go changing things at random and possibly causing another problem.

All your going to do is dig yourself a deeper hole.

With the stock stuff we can help get it going but you start changing things BEFORE you get it running and you'll be pretty much on your own.

                    Just sayin'

I have not read, I have no spark... so there for, if I were you, I would see if you have spark. 4 stroke motor.... suck, squeeze, bang, and blow...repeat (mind out of the gutter boys!) you must have spark to get the bang part....

                        Greg,

Well, most this stuff is things I was going to do anyhow. I have had the coils for months, just needed to pick up wires...and this oil leak has got to go I was able to trace it a couple weeks ago back to that seal...which is one reason I wonder if it might be the pick up wires, maybe I bumped something in there...

You make a good point though, since this weekend will be a wash out anyhow, I will go ahead and start replacing things one at a time, see which of the items makes the bike go vroom finally

I used to get a bang when I sparked but not anymore. I may need an overhaul.

Every time I get sparked I'm looking for a bang.... but thats a different story for a different time

make sure you have spark... if you have fuel, air, compression, and the valves open and close all you need is spark to light the fire.

I wouldn't go changing the ignition coils just yet. Go ahead and pull the pickups apart and change that seal and get them checked out. If it was running before you messed with it it's probably something you did.

All I'm saying is don't go screwin' with stuff that you didn't touch before until you figure out WTF is going on. Changing unrelated stuff can cause problems that overlap with what your trying to figure out.
