Oh well, at least you will have a bench mark, sans skid mark.

Ha ha CZ. That's not really that far off. Got rid of the skid mark though.

      • Wedding & washing

        Hi John,
Glad to hear that you made the wedding just fine. Sure looks like a happy event. Saw a pic of you at XSsoutheast Nantahala 2012 on faceboook.com/xssoutheast. Having fun in the curves! Thanks for meeting me and Jeff to eat at the Saltlick BBQ. Much fun.

Today I rode and washed off the AL bugs, LA rain & road spray, and the TX dust.

Greg is just quite the rumor mill.....he is disappointed I did not give him my sister's number.

I was afraid if he called her she might become pregnant!

              • Agreed!

Seems new paint isnt always the answer, just elbow grease.

Lets see it all put together!

What are those grab handles attached to? The plastic inner fender? The bottom of the seat?

                • I put the battery back in her and started her. She fired up on the second try and after warming up she settled into a nice idle! Pretty good after sitting half full of gas all winter! Hopefully I can take her out later this week!

                  • Fixed leak in Can Chain Tensioner

Well, the cam chain tensioner was leaking a little bit ever since I adjusted the cam chain tension. The PO had installed the CCT upside down and used a glop of RTV in an attempt to seal everything up.

I pulled the CCT, cleaned everything up and put it back together again. Thank goodness for Harbor freight O-rings and Victolex gasket sheets.

I swear everytime I do something to this bike it gets a little bit better. Seems that the cam chain is even quieter now what it was before, and no oil leak will be a big plus...

                    CCT pulled apart:

                    CCT loosely assembled:

Personally I'm kind of undecided, but I don't think I could live with one.

Use it wisely, I just called NAPA and it is no longer available. The largest they had was 8.5in by 11in., not big enough for a rocker cover.

Thanxs Brent, next to completely going over the wiring and adding the upgrades to it, most of the time I have in this build is the disassembly, cleaning & polishing before reassembly.
I gotta say the HF lift table makes it so much easier there's no excuse not to do a nice job.

Yah, it is nice paint and you might not be able to tell from the pics but it's a metallic and in the sun it really shows. It's a shame I have to cover it up with matching two tone colors that are on the tank and side covers presently but I really like two toned full dressed bikes.
As for the grab handles, they are bolted to the front flange of the rear subframe support bracket that the Standards have, which is separate from the hinged fender, unlike the Special's one piece fender that incorporates this support in it.

                            Here's a couple pics:

Also more pics to come, as I'm real close to final mockup.
