Hey Pat, tell me it ain't so ....
a leaky F.O.R.D.

After 40 years as a daily driver, yes, it had a leak. Not anymore. Actually the leak was from a seal that didn't seat right when I replaced it last year. I'm sure some other makes of vehicles use this same seal .

Well tomorrow I'm going to paint the tank and side covers, and depending on if I can whine enough to get SWMBO to let me get 2 mirage kits I may do the fairing at the same time. Then when it's done I take some good pictures and post them so everybody can laugh at my poor painting skills, although it does look pretty good for a rattle can. I gotta say that duplicolor has gotten it down on making it easy to get a really good finish with a rattle can.
I quoted myself because plans changed. The paint job is being put off for a couple of weeks, because I wanted to ride. so I rode a little, and then I got tired of my turn signals on the rear twisting up or down (right side down, left side up) because they hit the hard bags. So, I finally figured out how to shorten the signal stalks so they don't hit anymore. It's nice, they are actually not hitting the bags anymore, so they should stay where I put them.

Well, of course the PO told me the bike had progressive springs in it. When I changed fork seals I found otherwise. Now it has progressive springs and shocks.
I fired her up in spite of a weak battery. She was stubborn but did come to life before the battery was exhausted. So today I will be putting the battery on the charger for a full charge as compared to the battery minder charge it has been getting.

But I forgot to change the sparkplugs. Despite old plugs, she sounds so happy now

I pulled the plugs and checked/cleaned them - 2 inner were tan/good. The 2 outers were sooty but OK - cleaned checked gap and replaced - fired up quicker anyway!
Now to figure out why running richer in outer cylinders and sooting them up.

Cleaned plugs on wknd - 3rd cyclinder out came the helicoil with the plug attached - didn't even know one was there. As per the expert of Tinman905, tonight will put "red locktite" on the threads & put her back in - will let dry tonight - hopefully will come out tommorow & then will have antisieze (sp) on all plug threads. Then its a ride to work yee haw! - geez always an adventure - Dan
