I'm excited for these. Great work people. I'll have to get a few. One for each arm of my jacket plus spares in case the extreme G-forces created by my Special tear off the patches in one of my stoplight to stoplight STFU's. The patches, with all the creativity and talent being put into them, should only add to the sheer awesomeness that oozes from the pipes of any XS11. Thanks for and keep up the quality work. My '80 SG and I wait in anticipation.
    1990 Ninja ZX-10. It's the Silver Surfer. HI-YA!!

2006 Yamaha XT-225. Yep, I take it on the interstate. It's Blue Butt.

1982 Toyota 4x4. 22R Cammed, 38/38, 2" pipe, 20R head with OS valves, performance grind and other fun stuff. It's Blue RASPberry.

1969 Ford F-250 Camper Special resto project. 390 RV cam, Demon carb, Sanderson headers, 2 and a quarter pipes with Magnaflow mufflers. It's Blue Jay.

      A few discussion points!

      Okay Folks,

First off, this patch is what Mr Ozz wanted to make, an 80SG. After the 78E patch(s) were made, 2009 came and went, and due to the economy, etc., NOBODY stepped up to volunteer to make a 79SF patch (30th anniv.) !

SO...it's now 2010, 30 years after 1980, and I think OZZ has an SG, we had already done a STANDARD...the FIRST one actually, and so he decided to make a SPECIAL. And it'll be the 80SG because that's what he wanted! He's celebrating and honoring the 1980SG, not SPECIALS or the first special specifically, but the 80SG since it's still 30 years since it's production...providing he can get them done before the year runs out!

ANYBODY who wants to come forth and put in the efforts to create, design, then get the YAMAHA copyrights permissions, pay the several hundred $$ out of pocket it costs to get them made, then handle the receiving of the orders, packaging and mailing them out to everyone, then feel free to come up with and promote a 1979 SF patch of your liking.

Also, hate to rain on anyone's parade that's looking for acquiring several of these patches! YAMAHA Corp. will probably put a quantity limit on the copyright permissions, just like they did when I did the 2nd 78E patch, of only 100, and so to be as fair as possible so that as many different folks could get a patch, I had to restrict the sale to 1 per household!

I don't know if YAMAHA will put the same quantity limitation for this one, but just wanted to warn folks ahead of time not to get their hopes up too high for more than 1 patch per bike/owner.

As to the color, I'll post in the other new POLL thread regarding that issue.

Hey TC: Thx for all the work you two are doing & one patch per household is fine (I asked for 3) - hey we gotta share if there is a limit. I might do a velcro thing for diff jackets or whatever. Thx again & looking forward to the results - Dan

I think the design chosen works out great. Maybe next year someone will do one for the 81's maybe even two, one for the Venture and one for the MNS. Or maybe we could figure out how to do one patch for both at the same time? No matter which, I'm gonna get one.

            whatever happened to the patch?

I never saw anything else after this thread died out last year....

I would like one still (prefer before the rally). Is someone still working on the design? I remember voting.

            Thanks

I'm curious too as to what ever happened with the patch. I don't have a Special so I'll have to get one to go along with the patch.

                    Here it is.

I had emailed Yamaha a few times. I only received one phone call from them about the patch. They had a few questions about the Yamaha logo. I emailed and called several times and did not hear back from them. I resubmitted the patch to them. I will admit its not all their fault. Life got very busy and difficult for me and my family for a bit. Been getting better.

                    Now for the Good News!

I heard from them this week.

They have accepted the patch once I make on final change. The Yamaha logo has to be in white.

Here is the patch that will be used, except the Yamaha logo will be in white.

                    • I like it! Thanks for putting the time and effort in on this. Once they're available, I will definitely need to get one to go with my SG!

By the way, did Yamaha put a limit on how many could be made, as TC mentioned a few posts up?
