Aaaah man, what a crappy thing to hear.

Ivan, I hope you will have a quick recovery with the least pain possible. Go with the injections of Dilaudid if they'll let you. When I was in horrific pain back in '04 when my legs and feet were torn up, that was the only thing that gave me any relief.

I just spoke with Ivan's wife. She said that the doctors found that his back is not broken, maybe a chip off of a vertebra so that is good news. His pelvis is broken on both sides (guess that is what bilateral means). They are moving him out of ICU soon, I think she said tomorrow.

Typical Ivan, she said that everytime he woke up he was asking her to let me know (since he was gonna ride to MOM with us). Like he doesn't have more important things to deal with.

I just found out about this reading the MoM thread, that sucks. It seems like it was only the other night we were in Eureka Springs at a candlelight dinner sitting across from Russ and Jenna and making fun of his white wall tire! So are we going to pass the hat around at MoM, as good as any other get together and is already organized. I hope he has medical insurance and the kid that hit him's insurance helps out too.

Haven’t been on the forum lately, just heard about Ivan from Harry. Can’t say anything that hasn’t already be said about how sad this is. Earlier this year I saw a guy’s bike go shooting off the road and into the side of a hill, just like mine did in 2006. Big difference was, I was on my bike, and I ended up with a broken pelvis. Now Ivan has a broken pelvis. Weird how things happen.

I know you won’t get well soon Ivan, but you will get well.

I just got off the phone with Ivan a little bit ago. They have him pretty drugged up on the stuff DJinNH was talking about. He says that he was cruising along with the throttle lock on, and this kid pulled out in front of him talking on his cell phone. He went to pass the kid without even accelerating.. just left the throttle lock on.. and the kid accelerated until he was right on his butt like it was a race. So Ivan says he dropped it into 4th and pinned it and was at least 1/2 mile ahead of the kid when he went to slow down to turn. There was a car coming the opposite direction looking like he was going to turn left in front of him also, so as he was at @ a walking speed seeing what the other guy was going to do, the kid plowed into him. Ivan seems to think the kid was doing more like 70mph.

This was a teenager that had borrowed his sisters car.. and thinks there's insurance, but unknown how much. His bike was towed someplace.. he told me the name, but I forgot.. even though he was only about 100 yds from his house!

He does have a chipped vertabrae on T-9, and pelvis fractures on both sides, but his pelvis is NOT displaced.. so they think he can get by without surgery. They will be putting a compression fitting that holds his legs and waist together so he doesn't move, but said it's not a body cast. He is also out of ICU and able to have visitors.. he thinks.. but warned that you may see more than you bargained for if you show up.. lol.

He was fumbling a couple words, and I asked, "Dude, are you high?!" Which got a bit of a chuckle.. So he seems to be in as good of spirits as can be expected. He also said that he definately wants to get back on a bike again but getting that one by his wife at the moment isn't something he wants to discuss with her right now understandably.

I told him he had lots of people here supporting him and to get some rest.. and he said to pass on his thanks to everyone's prayers and wishes.

well I think He sis going to be alright all around.

He will heal just fine to ride another day and I KNOW he will have everyone here at Ch11 to help him out with his bike! I will be bringing some extra parts to the MOTM and I think I can get him a new sissybar and luggage carrier

Pretty soon I think Ill be buying a parts bike so He will be set.

He helped me out, now its time for me to give back to him!
