    I've stayed there a couple of times too! Food is pretty good. There is a Chinese food restaraunt in town and a little diner called the Sleepy Bear. They used to sell gas there as well but I'm not sure if they still do.

      Hey Paul

      The Motel has new owners, but seems to have some of the old staff. From the Website looks like they have brightened the place up a little.

          Update - Room Availability

          Hi Phil et al;

          Received a reply from the Mountain View and, the cottage and family room are both, as of now, still available. His reply is as follows:

          " Hi Ron,

          Yes both the cottage and the two family rooms are available on those nights. The cottage has a bedroom with two double beds and a lounge with two double sofa beds, kitchen dining area etc. The family rooms have two double beds and a double sofa bed.

          The cottage is $180.00 per night and the family rooms are $140.00 per night.

          We also have gas BBQs in the gardens which our guests are welcome to use.

          Kind regards,

          Doug "

          While technically the cottage sleeps 8 and the family room sleeps 6, these accommodations are all Double beds .
          Could get to be a bit 'too' cozy for some.

          Personally, I would prefer a room with a queen size bed.

          Comments anyone???

            Hey Jim et al;

            My apologies Jim, I missed the following query that you noted in one of your emails. It was almost at the bottom of a page with a loooong list of info.

            To All;

            The following is another possibility that, as noted above, Jim had suggested but, I unfortunately overlooked.

            This one is for the ASH GROVE INN located in Barry's Bay. Nice looking establishment and, as of this posting, IS FULLY AVAILABLE. Rates are as follows:

            Single Room (1 person) $74.00
            Double Room (2 people) $84.00
            Kitchen Suite (2 people) $129.00
            Luxury Suite (2 people) $149.00

            All of the suites/rooms can accommodate up to 4 people (possibly more in the suites).

            Both the single and double rooms have two double beds.

            The Kitchen suite has a separate bedroom with a queen bed and, a sofa bed in the living room. Also has a kitchen, dining room & electric fireplace.

            The Luxury suite has a queen size bed in the bedroom and a queen pull-out sofa bed. Also, gas fireplace and jacuzzi tub and shower. There are 6 luxury suites.

              Hey

              I think Barry's Bay is a better home base for the rides. A little more choices to eat, some shops, a little night life (alright very little) but at least the Dixie Lee closes closer to midnight and there is a pub or two.

              Also the home Janusz Zurakowski - AVRO Arrow test pilot

              My vote for Barry's Bay.

                  Comfort zone

                  I once was built for speed ,I'm now built for comfort. If we spread out between a number of rooms we should be able to accomodate everyone comfortably. Thx Rick

                          • Phil's Right...Again.

                            It's good to see everyone jumping in to help out. Phil makes a good point and that photo drives it home. It is all about the ride. We will have a better idea of what we need for next years Madawaska Monkee Butt Rally. (If we are allowed back in the area) Thx Rick
