          Calabogie Boogie

Calabogie is close by and on the route we Ottawa area XSives often take . Its kinda south of Renfrew and the farthest east of any area discussed so far .

            What's in a name?

Anyone have any opinions or comments on the rally name yet?

              Hi Big daddy,
I was hoping someone else would jump in the debate.
Assuming the river in Bancroft is the Madawaska my favorite is:

                Madawaska Monkee Butt Rally

That was my favorite too. It would make for a hilarious T shirt. Unless there are any objections or a better name, I suggest we go with it.

Is Madawaska the river in Bancroft ? I have tried looking on maps but so far no luck in confirming.

                    Hi Phil,

The rivers source is in Algonquin Park and rambles through many communities starting at Whitney and a couple lakes to end up at Arnprior where it drains into the Ottawa River

The river's name comes from an Algonquin band of the region known as "Matouweskarini", meaning "people of the shallows".

                      Madawaska

On my map, the area is east of Bancroft is the Madawaska Valley. Looks like there is a small town by the same name up by Witney as well as the aforementioned river. I believe Bancoft is at the south east corner of the Madawaska area. Besides it is a unusual (cool) sounding area for a rally.

                              Hi Rick,
Thanks for the vote of confidence. HamJam is the official route planner. He has already suggested a route. He knows the area quite well.
Those who have particular favorite roads should wait until we get the rally thread started. At the moment Jim & I are trying to find accomodation which is proving a little more difficult than at first thought. Not much point inviting everyone to come and play if we don't have somewhere to stay.

Thanks for that Axel. Somehow the York Monkey Butt does not have a ring to it
