  • Southern Ontario Riders

In a weak moment I agreed to start this thread for the discussion of forthcoming rides in and around Southern Ontario.
The purpose here is to keep us sane as the snowplow just went by my house and left a mountain at the bottom of the drive.
HamJam Big Daddy Funk and I were thinking of some local destinations we would like to ride to this summer.
Do we have to wait until we have actually gone somewhere before we choose a name for our group?

    Two Wheeled Therapy

Just throwin' out ideas. Thousand Islands tour. Biker Reunion Rally in New Liskerd. Lake Huron Tour (Collingwood, Sauble Beach, Goderich). Ottawa area tour.
In my area there is The Waplane Heritage, Niagara wine tour, Niagara Falls (good vintage bike collection). I might be able to be talked into sharing a 5km. road aptly named Snake Rd.
If anyone has the time, for my big ride (2 weeks) I am heading down to Tour the East coast including the Rock this summer. No date scheduled yet.

          Hey

The "Rock" is a larger party and drinking island with a small fishing problem, but well worth the drive. Its motorcycle friendly and you can probably drive from the South to the North end in 22 hour. (just watch out for the moose)

            Down Homers

ELDR has it right. The "Rock" is the island of Newfoundland. Home of probably the most popular people across Canada. I haven't been there yet but I'll take care of that this summer. I was in the Maritimes about twenty years ago and had the time of my life. I should avoid Halifax this time around.

Well we are off and running now.
Big Daddy has a list to keep us busy already.
Ted you know you are always welcome 'down" here.
Ottawa is on our list of places to go though it would need a week end which is more rally than ride.
I would add Algonquin Park as one of my desired destinations.

                Hey Phil

I have got great connections in Algonquin Park. The VOC was one of our projects 12 years ago, I still service the centerer and will be there in three weeks for another upgrade. Done several service call on the XS1100G, 2.5 hours on the XS, 3 in a cage.

East coast has some of the best riding roads around. We were suppose to take a trip down there last summer but the weather and a few other unscheduled things forced its cancellation. Not sure why you would avoid Halifax on the next trip you take there, for it's a good, centralized staging point for doing the Cabot trail, East coast of Nova Scotia - including Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, etc., West coast - Annapolis Valley, Yarmouth, etc.

Either way, you can't go wrong spending the majority of your time in Nova Scotia & on the 'Rock'. (& as Ted said, "watch out for the moose" )

                        Thanks

Thanks Hamjam. I would really appreciate any info and insights you have for my trip. I generally ride as conditions and traffic permit(sometimes cruise, sometimes fly.) I dislike 400 series highways because I find them boring. For me it's all about the ride. I'm retired so if I'm enjoying myself taking an extra week isn't a problem providing I update the SWMBO.
As for Halifax, there is no shortage of fun in that town. I still have some friends down there who delayed and distracted me last time. They would be disappointed if I didn't stop in there for a day to say hello as they come up here every couple of years. I am determined to see the rock on this trip as long as the haligonians don't lead me astray once again. I'm getting too old for that.

                          Hi Ted,
Riding to a service call is a definite perk I presume you are refering to the Visitor Centre?
