      The other motel in Bancroft is the Bancroft Motor Inn. I checked rates and availability today. They range from $99 to $105. Having stayed there when snowmobiling I can tell you these rates are too high for this place. There's not much around the Bancroft area so we may have to look elsewhere for more economical accommodations but still with in reasonable riding distance of Bancroft.

        Hi Paul,
        Exactly what i thought. So now we have established we are a bunch of cheap bastards I have a lead to follow up to morrow. The problem in the area appears to be only small establishments. Heads up if we find something we are going to need to commit quickly.
        The suspense is killing me too

          Whiney is about 65km North of Bancroft. I have stayed at the East Gate, its not a Comfort Inn, but is clean and friendly. From $60 Rates in the summer are a little higher.

          There is also the Wilno Mountain View - Rates From $80 - 80km from Bancroft http://www.mountainview-motel.com/

          Also in Wilno

            Hey Ted et al;

            Jim and I have been discussing a number of options, Mountain View being one of them. As of Sunday, they were fully booked the weekend of the 10th but the rest were open.

            Stay tuned.

              Bed and breakfast? Lodge?

              I'm wondering if a bed and breakfast or a lodge would suit our needs. I'm not familiar with the area but I noticed a place called Riverland Lodge and Camp located at hwy 60 & 523. You might have checked it out already. Just trying to help. Rick

                Thanks for your help!
                I think the more looking the more options we'll have. Like Phil said, it's early yet!

                  Hi xsilerating,
                  I found the Mountain View also and it looks good to me.
                  The Cottage sleeps eight (how many beds?) and the Family room sleeps six (how many beds) might be enough? breakfast at the resturant is and a BBQ on the deck would solve dinner saturday night.
                  Can we get the nights of 17 & 18 July. I can call to morrow night.

                      do we know how many people are going to partake in this ??
                      we need numbers before getting reservations at a place . Should this be placed in the Rallies section to see how many are interested or do you want this to be only for the Ontario bunch
                      just wondering

                        # Beds & availability

                        Hi Phil;

                        I'll check on the bed situation and availability but, I would think that the cottage and family room are still available.

                        I'll post a reply as soon as I get it from Mountain View.

                        Another possibility (good) is the Sands on Golden Lake. Standard room rates range from $90 - 93 per night, 2 beds (double or queen). They also have a cottage and chalets for $285 - 325 per night - each sleeps 6 or about $50.per night per person). Looks like a nice, upscale establishment. Hmmm, then again, might be too good for us!

                        Check out their site here: Sands on Golden Lake / accommodation

                        As of Monday, they only had July 17 & 18 available. All the rest was booked.

                        If you think that you might be interested in this one (chalets & cottage have 3 bedrooms in each and can accommodate 6 to 8 people), give Catherine Welk (sales & reservations) a call at:
                        1-800-565-2520 as soon as possible.

                        (You may want to let her know that you are following up on my (Ron Christoff) recent email to them.)

                            Hey Jim;

                            I hadn't heard back from you so, I thought that perhaps you and Phil had talked about this and had come to a decision, of sorts.

                            Going by Phil's query, looks like perhaps 14 people total? I got the impression from you that there was going to be quite a few more?

                              I know it's a winter shot, but here's a picture of a sample of the roads and scenery of the proposed 'XS'ive Madawaska Monkey Butt Rally', to get your senses warmed and primed

                                I have stayed at the Sands on Golden Lake and its a good place. I have also eaten in their dinner many times, last time in December. Its one of the better in the area. The town also has a couple of other restaurants. Its a good area.
