  • Tahoe Rally time!

It's about time to start thinking about the Lake Tahoe Rally again. I'm sorry to report that I will probably not be able to make it this year. Between the economy, and having to move unexpectedly, I just don't think it's going to happen... for me. But I hope it happens for you! I hope that some one will take up the challenge of coordinating the event. Doesn't take much, really: a few post to the Forum is about it. I will miss seeing everyone, especially my Okie brother Maximan, and DragXS and his family!
It made me sad to follow the news of the devastating fire that struck the area where Maximan kissed the Earth when Zilla went down.
I hear from DiverRay that he plans on riding up to Oregon with Miles and Maximan after the rally. Damn I'd like to make the ride! I lived in Eugene for 18 years before I moved to Cantaffordia. I've got family and really good friends up there. I'd love to see them. Oh well.

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
    I've been riding since 1959.

    Ed,
I've stepped up and have most of it together. If there is anyone who has NOT made plans, call the South Lake Tahoe Motel 6 and get a room. We will be there Friday and Saturday night, and two of the locals will be around for a Sunday ride, for those who would like to go.
Maximan, Miles, Brent, and myself are going to "THE COAST" on Sunday, and then ride Highway 1 North from Stinson Beach to Newport, OR. We have two days, four bikes, and great sites planed!
Tahoe on Saturday should be a ride up 89 to 88, over Monitor Pass to 395, and then North and back home via Kingsbury Grade.
Please look at the Rally section, or PM me for more information.

Yes, I was thinking about 9:00am for food, 10:00am depart time. We'll try and have all the bikes fueled before breakfast.

If I leave home at 6am I should make it to Carrows in plenty of time. I just might make it.

Matt - please bring your Eleven. After all it is an "Eleven Rally"

Mike - I do hope you can make it. You're one of the few internet "pen pals" I'd like to meet in person. Hope to see you there.

I'm moved out, but not entirely into my new place: but I do have my Comcast DSL and cable... whu hoo!
I will really miss this ride, but I think I would rather put my time and $ into fixing up my bike. I have close to 90,000 miles on the cam chain. She (it?) still doesn’t burn a drop of oil, but second gear has gone out and she needs a face-lift. I have a parts bike just waiting to have parts stipped off for powder coating, anodizing and/or chroming!
I know it doesn’t concern the rally, but I have contemplated changing my handle to XSEd and naming my bike Liberty, since she/it hasn't been named and I feel a bit awkward referring to it as... "it." Plus, "Liberty" has never really caught on as a nickname for moi. I guess I am destined to be known as jus' plain ol' Ed. Any comment?)
If I don't post again before the ride, keep the rubber side down!

If "it" isn't a Standard, you could be "Special Ed"...

                          Ron,
I'll be going up Friday morning. I don't know if you can get away that early, but maybe we can at least meet for lunch. I plan on going over 152, and then up 99 to 88.

I do plan on leaving early (6 am) Sat morning and meet with the gang at Carrows. Ride with everyone at far as Ebbets or wherever around there then head home. I have school Fri afternoon and being out of work I can't afford to spend the night.
Class has been a trying experience. Last time I was in a classroom setting was 1978. I'm going to truck driving school. Yesterday (Thurs) I got my Class A permit. Had to take 5 tests, total of 128 questions, class A general knowledge, combinations (tractor/trailers), air brakes, 1/2 the class C test and the motorcycle test. Aced them all . Monday starts 6 weeks of practical driving skills and I will get my doubles, tankers, and hazmat endorsements.
