Ya those darn seals only last about ten miles, but the good thing is my 12 ga speaker wire passenger seatbelt works great.

Ok gonna try to get this right...linking pics is always death for me...
I'm forever tinkering with the thing...I do love it, always having something to mod or repair from years of neglect. Just wish I could afford to do it right, not halfway or redneck...ho hum..."Rat Rod"

Yahoo seems to be the worst about not letting you attach pict links to other sites. Try an account with Imageshack or something like that (there are several photo sites out there). It makes linking alot easier.Wayne

What's there to do??? MUHAhahahaha...
You should've seen the REAL before...before I laid about 15 hours worth of polish and touch-up paint into her. Thus far I have invested approximately 75 hours into shining, sprucing, fixing and tuning. Every single minute of it was done with a smile."Rat Rod"

Sweet......
NICE!!!
That tank looks AWESOME! I'm hoping to be working a union gig this week so maybe by winter bills can be caught up and I can do the same thing to the Rat Rod, was thinking of something more contrasting than factory tho...maybe a bright yellow candied frame and Chrysler Purple-lusion for the tank, covers and wheels, small black light under the seat near the airbox and LED's all around. I dream about it at night, lately I cant WAIT to go to bed!
My SWMBO (heh heh heh) is jealous of the Rat Rod...I spend so much time rubbing her out that SWMBO says if the thing had breasts she'd understand...LOL"Rat Rod"

Thanks Hammerhead for your compliment.Looks like you have your work cut out for you.I was after something close to the factory color with a little more metallic in the paint.I had some 80 Camaro paint laying around, code 29,basecoat -clearcoat. Everything was stripped down to bare metal, plastic.Dents filled, etc. Tried to shortcut by sealing and painting but factory paint was lifting through sealer. Also painted sidecover yellow to see how it would look.Went for the blue and glad I did.Anyways,my dad has a cottage on Waneta Lake, probably not to far from you.

Returning after a long time without a bike
Just wanted to officially get started on XS11.com by posting a picture of my bike and saying how much I have learned from reading through many of the threads. I owned a 650 maxim years ago and shopped for many weeks this summer for just the right bike. I rode a large assortment of V-twins but found them all to be lacking in one way or another - usually handling and initial performance. A local dealer had an 82 XJ1100 that he described as a really good running bike, but scuffy. $1000 later I had a scuffy bike that is tons of fun to ride and handles so much better than anything else that I had ridden over the summer.
It has a fairly good size dent in the tank but I have gotten another scuffy tank from ebay (minus any big dents) which I will paint, while still getting to ride. Once it is done I cannot imagine that it will take long to change things over. Not sure where to start with getting a tank painted, and I plan to get the side covers done at the same time.
$40 got me a luggage rack, sissy bar, and trunk from a guy who took them off of a 650 but thought that they were not right for the look that he was going for. I took them off his hands pretty quickly at that price. I am not going for the Interstate look, but I sure find that trunk handy and my wife and kids like the security that the backrest gives them.
I am in the Lansing Michigan area if any other members want to meet for a ride or to do some "bench racing" over a coffee.
