I was browsing through some of the pictures (I'll need a bunch more time to get through all of them), and it occurred to me that the XS shifts between categories pretty easily.
Some are decked out as cafe racers, some as cruisers, some as touring bikes, some as standard bikes, I've seen You tube videos of XS11 bobbers, and I even think I saw a trike in here somewhere. Just about the only varieties of XS11 I haven't see yet is a dirt bike and a crotch rocket.
Pretty impressive if you ask me...Leave a comment:

An observation - The XS11 has many incarnations

A couple photos of my project
So, I got this "great deal" on ebay from an impound lot. It's been about a year and lots of starts and stops, but I actually had the bike running around the neighborhood this weekend.
One of the guys at work helped figure out what had happened to the bike:
We figured the PO layed the bike down on it's right side with the front wheel hard right. That explained the road rash all along the right of the bike. Fortunately the highway peg protected a bunch of the bike as it was ground away.
Then the bike slid under something (like a truck) and that's when the left side of the tank got dented and the left side of the handle bar got tweaked round to almost touch the right side.
I'm going to try and get the bike through the smog test this next week. If I can get it to pass, I'll get it registered and start riding to work. I still need to get a bunch of stuff finished, but it feels real good to be this far along...
Here's some pictures of the bike at the impound lot:
And here's some photos from this weekend:
Here's a closeup of my fuse block replacement:

maybe a sun rising into a blue sky, getting darker and darker, till it fades into the blue of the tank.these old bikes take alot of upkeep.time I don't seem to have.Leave a comment:

Thanks Cuda, the sunlight hides some things, I have done a lot of cleaning and touch up but it needs more. I'd love to get the tank repainted, those white panels seem like a perfect place for some art of some kind.
I don't know if I ever will due to keeping it stock looking but it's crossed my mind a few times. Over all it's been a great bike and I really enjoyed it so far, best trade I ever made.Leave a comment:

Dang...after looking at all the nice looking bikes my thoughts rang true..the riders may not always be the best but the bikes are always top notchLeave a comment:

Thanks for the compliments. It started out with the intent of just a quick cleaning and installing the hydraulic clutch. That was 12 months ago.
Then the "while I'm at it" list kept growing and growing...
Ride safe,
