      Vintage Yamaha Rally SE 2017

      Friends,

Today, I received confirmation that YAMAHA (Team Blue!) will again provide some gifts and goodies for our Vintage Yamaha Rally SE (formerly XSSE)! Last year's support was limited to hundreds of nice goodie bag stuffers and a few larger items. This slightly limited participation was primarily due to the late hour when my request finally made its way into the proper hands .... I will request more this year and believe my contact will be much more generous given two months notice vs. two weeks.

The representative of Yamaha has invited me & my Vintage Yamaha friends to tour their facility in Georgia (NW of ATL). I am hopeful that other ATL area members of the organizing committee would be able to join me. Additionally, if there are any members of XS11.com that would like to join me please let me know. I'm planning on visiting one afternoon in the next few weeks. I don't even know what kind of Yamaha/Star is manufactured there but we'll find out. I suspect 5-6 people would be appropriate... FIRST COME FIRST SERVE!

Looking forward to a few days off from work and meeting my XS11 & Yamaha enthusiast friends again in Stecoah!

      Sincerely,
      Kurt Boehringer

Is there a PDF schedule of the rides, etc? The events page of the IH website appears to be down.

                Rides

At this time there is no ride schedule. Some of the organizers are working on putting rides together. Due to the expected large crowd, we will be unable to put on the tour we've done in the past. As great as that was, we've moved beyond that. The greater numbers will allow for a diversity of activity, including rides of varying duration. We've also moved beyond the XS1100. This is now a sanctioned event for the Yamaha 650 Society. I expect the rally to be published in the next issue of Motorcycle Classics. In addition to it's own FB page, we're hosted on XJBikes.com, XS650.com, and a few others, including the two stroke site. Rather than put up with dwindling numbers of XS1100's (there are still a lot of them), those of us putting on this show decided to grow it.

Excellent. Great work morphing to include more Yamaha lovers.

Is the 22nd a ride day or is it a show up and get settled day?

I'll plan to be riding from around 9AM into the early afternoon.

Last year I joined up with a group of about 6 riders on Friday.

It's nice to get back early enough on Friday afternoon to meet and greet the folks as they arrive and see their bikes, and just kibitz in general.

My wife is not joining me this year. I have a room with a private bath. If someone wants it, please call the Iron Horse (828-479-3864) and tell them you want a private room. Then let me know and I'll relinquish it. If it doesn't happen soon enough, I'll shift gears and find someone to share it with.

                              Once more with feeling!

I'm going to ride back East again for the rally but old bikes, plans and I haven't done very well for a few times in a row now.

The XJ is running great and everything's going so well it scares the heck out of me, I think I need to pick up a super duty umbrella with a pointy tip or something for whenever the Monty Python foot decides it's time to step in!
