  • AND hang out with me in Atlanta, once I got back home next weekend.
Sorry to hear you have to cut your trip short due to "the Troubles".

When the Cats away ............ well you know the rest.

Would have liked to escort you westward on US 82 to the Mississippi River. Or via the Pine Apple AL10 & MS28 Fun Run. Maybe get Brent to join along so we could run Lights & Sirens

Bingo! I can't visit anyone like I planned, just a long and boring slog back home.

I'm packing up and loading the bike now, it'll be another 500 mile day/8 hours of road time on Monday back to Memphis for the first stop. Ouch. This is going to hurt.

Jeff & I rode some nice smooth empty 2 lane blacktop going that way; The Open Road. Who would have thought?? AL MS... I would like to join y'all, But I have to be back by lunch time or supper if I leave after breakfast. My free and easy Glory Days have ceased. I will not be carrying the banner to one rally after another for a While now. The blue and red flashing lights were replaced with clear lenses and flasher unhooked before my last bike was delivered, but I can still make good time.

I do need to get hold of the Iron Horse and snag a cabin but next year I think I'll ride a Winnebago or something.

            • 2,100 miles to Simi V.
              Picking up i-40 in Nashville?

Brent would just light a Churchill and roll off 1,000 miles. Then do again, presto in LA. As I recall he hosted a 911 Ceremony. Did the 100 mile group ride with full Fire & Police Escort, attended the State 911 ceremony, had a late lunch, then rode to Little Rock. . now THAT'S some riding.

Have a good trip across. Keep us posted .......

              • Heh, if I had a 'Glide with a decent Twinkie engine or a Goldwing it'd be different but I truly despise the seat on my XJ, it's not really made for much more than barhopping or short runs through the hills. A very large, very heavy mallet might help it but then again it might just make it worse.

One of those ATV add on pads make for a heck of a difference, like the one you put on Columbo. Wally World would be the best bet.

Yep, aspirin though, Ibuprofen won't mix with the heart med potpourri I have to take.

Brant,I have the ATV pad, it helps but not as much as a good Jean bag chair would. Anyway, I got the first hundred miles in, time for breakfast at Shonys, then gas and back on the road to Memphis.

Yeah..I put up with that seat for 30 yrs..Originally being young ..it never bothered me..but by the last 10 yrs of ownership that seat was a beeeotch..I bought a wally world atv cover(Thanks Tod)..that and some more foam inserted underneath..raised me up a bit and flattened out that deep dished seat..but it still sucked for any real LD riding..I hope you make it home safely..Vaya Con Dios...

If your Maxim has the stock seat, you remember what Trbig always said about them...

"The Maxim seat had to have been forged in the lowest pits of hell!"

They are a sheer torture device!

Pretty design to look at, though!

I hope you have a safe trip back home, buddy.
