                Have to Respectfully decline!

                Hey Gary and gang,

I usually partake of this fall event combined with my visit to MOM in Southeast Alabama for a week, and the following weekend I make it up to TWO for the best riding I get to experience all year.

But, this year, I've had to plan at trip out farther west... San Angelo, Texas to be exact....to visit my old HS best friend, who's not in great health, born with 1 kidney, burned it up with OTC pain meds for his arthritis/degenerative joint disease, did home dialysis for several years waiting on the transplant list, finally got the T-plant several years ago, but rejection meds/chronic prednisone, developed diabetes, multiple cardiac stents, etc.! Needless to say, I don't know how many more years he has left on this planet, and so I'm going to visit him, do some fun stuff while he/we still can, then visit with other relatives, the step grand kids in DFW. Then also hope to run up to OK area to visit at least one of the fellows that I've helped behind the scenes, and might get to meet a few others if they aren't too mad at me!?

Anyways, this is Sept 4-19, trying to pick a little cooler weather time for being out west, but I won't have any $$ or vacation time left after this to be able to do the TWO rally the following weekend!

So...I bid you all a great time, wonderful weather, smooth roads, and safe adventures all around! Maybe next year!

                T.C.

PS, I received an email from a guy who I mistook for another Xsive/local, but he was somebody else, he had replied to the automated B'day wishes the site sends out, anyways, here's what he had to say abour the Dahlonega and Blairsville area when I invited him to the Rally this fall:

No problem T.C.,(referring to me realizing my mistaken identity) I live in the Lake Nottely RV Park in Blairsville during the summer and Avon Park, Fl. during the winter. I have a 78 standard that I bought new and a 79 Special that had 9,000 on it when I bought it. I keep the 78 in Ohio to ride during Sept. and keep the 79 with me all the time.

Last time I was at a rally was when gas was scarce and many guys had touble getting there. I went down there on a Sunday and all the guys had already taken off on a ride, so I missed them. I went upstairs and waited around awhile, but no one ever came in. I guess the gas problems kept many away that year.

I will be in Ohio during Sept. and will miss the rally, but I hope to get to one sometime. By the way, the Copperhead Lodge in Blairsville has new owners and is a good place to room and eat and play in the pool. Also, the store in Suches has a new owner and they have gasoline.

There is another good place to stop just north of Delonega on route 19 called Rider's Hill. They have a showroom, lunch counter and a separate tire garage. They are closed on Mon. and Tues. and open the rest of the week.

Thanks again for writing, John Martin

Being a new transplant to FL from NJ . I would love to hook-up with some of the members in the region.

Have to confirm the dates before committing however.

I will bring the Aprilia unless something is wrong with it. The Kaw seems to handle pretty good but it weighs 200 pounds more (easy). We are going to ride a week in VA first so we won't be there until sometime on Friday staying through Tuesday night I think.

I am being sucked into this vortex
I think I only need a set of coils to get the XS going.
