    Talimena

I have a customer / friend that has cabins in Big Cedar, about 26 miles from Talihina. Anyone interested let me know and we'll hook up some info for you. Send to my company email:

      talimena

One more thing, it appears SWMBO says no to the ride........... it seems that Tyler Texas will have a fair running that weekend and my twin girls have never seen a real fair. Not too sure I agree that it has a higher priority since we live so close to real amusement parks but then again it is SWMBO.

My oldest son will be riding it though, not sure if he'll take mine or his.

Later all, let me know if you need info on the cabins.

Also if there is a giant ball of twine display set for the TXSIVE Rally weekend I might have to miss it too....

        Talihina XS/XJ rally

Is this rally exclusive to XS/XJ only? Are XSives on other bikes welcomwe too? Even harleys?

Of course you are welcome. We'd love to have any inferior bikes present. Hehehehehe...

But then aren't ALL BIKES are inferior to the Eleven?

          ouch!...got something in my eye...

Yes. My research indicates this. Surprising as it may seem. after 25+ years of progress. I have yet to find a bike that can meet the capabilities of an XS11 in ALL categories, Many bikes can exceed in one or two areas, but will fall short in others. It seems that after all thgis engineering progress Manufactures could/would produce a bike that could out do an 1100 in Every category, but I have not found it yet.

            Load carrying capacity
            1/4 mile time
            lean angle
            EZ maintenance (no chain)
            features, comfort, performance, etc.

And the people! XSive riders, Vice presidents , and past VPs all. they appreciate a good value and a great bike, and Riding. XS1100 rallies are great fun, even if you do come on an inferior bike. As long as there is at least one XS or XJ1100 there to set the pace and standard.

That brings up another good natured rivalry - Standards vs Specials...,&.. (I think XJs are I just runners up for the years when the XS1100 were no longer available) I am glad they are part of the association and XS/XJ is easy for the search engines on the internet to find.

I believe I would like to go to Talimena and meet & ride with some of you OklaTeXSives.

Now if I can just get ready, get pointed in the right direction, and go.

              You forgot one point. DURABILITY!

Sound like you may do what I do every year. Riding my 11 out to Tahoe from Oklahoma is about 4000 miles round trip. It is long and hard but it is worth every mile.

If you are planning on coming to Talihina then I suggest you get your rooms reserved early.

Talihina - Mena ridge ride is very popular this time of year. Starting late September through November bikers flood this area because of the scenic and twisty routes.

I can't say for sure if this specific weekend will be crowded...b ut it could.

                CYA ina couple weeks XSives!

                    pretty sure I'll be camping.

Also, might be bringing one or two Harley riders with me. I already warned them they would be made fun of all weekend.

                      reservation made in Talihina

                      I have made reservation for fri & sat sept 22 & 23.

I will likely be on red firefighters edition harley road king, but I believe XSive Bohn will be riding wityh me on his 78 XS1100 touring bike. We will be staying at the Kiamichi Inn. Talihina, OK Route & schedule look like an XSively good rally.

Where is this cafe we meet for breakfast and ride? (I will look for the one with several good old yamahas out front).

Awesome! I am truly impressed...not only with the fact you'll be riding 1000 miles but it looks like we're gonna have a good turn out.

The cafe is "PAM'S". It is on the south side of the street. HWY 63 goes right through town and is a main drag of sorts. Just ride through on 63 and keep looking south. It's in a little shop downtown...ya can't miss it. More than likely most we'll be parked on the north side of the street in an open lot.

I will be there Friday afternoon late...around 5 or 6 pm eating diner. Then again around7:30 or 8 am Saturday morning. This should be a good meeting place at first. Later on we may meet else where...maybe the camp ground.

For you campers the State Park is right north of Talihina 7 miles on the east side of HWY 271.

Right now It's kinda looking like 10 or 12 ...maybe. That is HUGE for an XSive event.

That would make it 11 or 13 if you were to be able to count my son. I have a couple others I can get involved and when they decide I will let you guys know. One XS and one not. But of course he does like riding mine, so I guess he's an XS fan at least. (I have ridden more Harleys that way.)

Also let me know if you need some Cabin and tent area help, The only drawback is their cabins are 26 miles outside of Talihina in Big Cedar. You would have to make a short ride through gorgeous mountainside to get there in the morning for breakfast.

These folks are some of my best customers and they would be very happy to have you guys out there.

Has Dragon answered this post yet???

                              One more thing.........

SWMBO has to go to Illinois for a business meeting / class the entire week of the run. (That'll teach her to tell me I can't go on an XSive run, huh?) She should be back Sat. evening.

It looks like the weather is cooperating temperature-wise... it's been in the 80's during the day, and mid 60's early morning... actually wished I had a coat a couple times, but it's only about 7 miles to work.
I will remind everyone that this time of year can be tricky. It can be nice, warm, and clear... and change in about 30 minutes to rain/storm. So bring some rain gear. If you are the type that prefers no windshield and it rains.... I feel for you.... but no, I won't trade bikes with you until we get back.
I'm looking forward to meeting eveybody. Every group ride I have been on, has been exclusively Harleys, or wanna-be Harleys (Shadows with the baffles out). The thought of driving along those tree-lined roads and hearing several of these bikes all purring together.... can't wait!! See you in a week and a half.
