What other Houston riders are going, and what are your travel plans? I’m either leaving Thursday night (Oct.4th) or very early Friday (Oct. 5th). Wow, 450 miles in one day…that’s a lot of miles for my bones and back side. I would prefer to leave Thursday afternoon and put in three hours (200 miles) before dark. I hate riding at night cause of my vision.

Ok Stan, I just made a reservation. I plan on taking friday off and could ride thursday night if you really want to do that.
I'm for leaving early friday morning.
Not sure what Wayne wants to do or Hippy Dave.
Depending on if the SWMBO comes or not will determine which bike I take. The Luxo barge or the Nighthawk.
Let me know what you want to do.
        I'm pretty much open.

Wow, Fanastic...I made a decision; we'll leave Houston FRIDAY morning around 7:00. Drive for an hour and have breakfast/coffee around Huntsville; approx. 8:30.

The fastest route is north on Interstate Hwy. 45.

Anyone else want to join our group (or meet in route), please let me know? I have two empty guest rooms if anyone wants to spend the night Thursday.

          I'm ready to ride...

Stan are we meeting at your place or Steve's? I am still working out my vibration problems. Found reduction when a brace is placed mid point from head to collector, almost killed the handlebar vibration.

At 7:00 AM, we'll be fighting Houston's rush hour traffic. I'm thinking beltway 8, accross the toll bridge to Hwy.45. Steve's house is 1/2 mile from the bridge, so YES, we'll leave from his house and motor out of here.

I'm okay with leaving earlier, if we want to, and beat Houston's traffic. Sunrise (in October) is around 7:00 AM. What's your opinion, is 7:00 okay? The sooner we hit the road, the sooner we arrive.

I hate riding in the dark.

Sound good. My cell phone is 713-306-3494; tagging up has it's advantages. FYI...We won't wait for you unless you call, it's a long ride and we need to make tracks.

P.S. I road my XJ to work this morning and I got wet coming home; when will it stop raining?

I’m planning on making it this year.

I live north of little Rock a little bit in Mayflower, and am going to make a 300 some odd mile loop through western AR the middle of this coming week but will only come within 20 miles of Mena

I’ll just make the same ride In Oct. with a detour to Talihina on the afternoon of Fri. the 5th.

Where’s the campground by Talihina? And are reservations needed?

If coming from the east, the campsite is less than a mile from the entrance to the Talimena Trail. Contrary to what the map shows, the entrance to the campgrounds is on the opposite side of the road... the East side. If coming from Talihina, I believe it's somewhere @ 5 to 7 miles from town.

No... no reservations needed for tent camping.

Hey guys, hope you don't mind taking on a newbie, but I sure would like some info on your upcoming rally in October. Myself and Bob Jones are planning a ride from Merriam Kansas, to Hot Springs Arkansas, that weekend, and if time allows we would like to hook up you all. We always get a kick out of meeting up with other XS 11 owners. So any info you can pass along would be great. Hope to see you all in October!

                            Hi Russ.

We would love to have you guys show up... the more the merriam.....er.. merrier! Start at the beginning of this post and read through. It gives the route and mileage for that Saturday (Oct 6th). If you have any other questions, feel free to post them in here or you can PM me.

What days are you planning on being in the area? We will probably leave out somewhere around 9am after breakfast at Pam's Hatefull Hussy Diner on main street in Talihina. Just look for the old Yammy's out front!

                              Hey Tod,

All we have for certain is that we want to ride hard and fast through Arkansas that weekend, and hopefully end up in Hot Springs. I am going to try to print off the map of your route, and try to hook up with you guys along the way. Bob owns Merriam Cycles, which means he is the boss and can take off whenever he wants, and I have lots of vacation so our time is flexible. If you can, let me know where and when you plan to stop, and where you plan to end up, and we will try to join up! It sounds like you have a great ride planned, and I can't wait to meet you all.
