when I run out, you will have to put SWMBO on your bike!
So that means I have to wait until you run out for that?? Surely Lynda would jump right off and start pushing if you ran out of gas! (OK.. I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen)

There should be a couple little places for gas along that way, but no telling the price. If you're like me, when that red light comes on, I don't care if it's $5 a gallon... that still beats the $%@* out of pushing a bike. But, in a worst case scenario since we're such good friends and all, if you were to run out, I could drain off a gallon of mine for 15 or 20 bucks. What are friends for?

If you unloaded a lot of crap off of "Packmule" you'd probably get better mileage. You could just put Lynda over on my bike for the trip to make sure you got there...(YOU started it!!) lol. You know, since a buddy would do something like that for you.. For some strange reason, I don't think Lynda will think that's nearly as funny as I do! lol.

I just need to get over there and check the route out some.. see what's worth riding.

P.S. Skippy (Greg), Answer your PM's every now and then would ya?

Think I can make it around 170 - 180 before the warning light kicks on.

Or we can use my aux fuel system as a "rolling gas station"!

I think my total capacity with the fuel cell is a right at 8 gallons.

'Ol Cody trying to cut in on my profits aint he!?!?

Bigfoot, MOST can make the 100 mile mark pretty easily, it's just that some of the bikes have a smaller tank than others. Then "Some" of these bikes with the smaller tanks start carrying so much stuff that they get dubbed "Packmule"... and it only goes downhill from there!

          OK..

Here's a possible route. I'll go check it out someday soon and take a look.

          Yahoo Maps

We could all meet for breakfast in Talihina at Pam's Hatefull Hussy Diner on main street. Then we could stop before leaving town and top off everyone on fuel. Then on north to Red Oak and west to Wilburton (C @ 32 miles) where we could stop so everyone could check things out to make sure all is well while we're still close to Talihina.

Then south to Clayton,(D @ 65 miles total) taking the scenic route out across the dam at Sardis Lake . Fuel stop at Clayton. Then it's 79 miles to Cove, Arkansas (F) at our next fuel point. Not much in between but we can stop at any time for smoke/stretch break, or just to stop and double the population of some small town for a few minutes and get a snack.

From Cove to Mena, Arkansas, there is a multitude of any type of eating establishment on the route to eat at. Maybe Opajim could advise us on a decent place... maybe down home style buffet or something that's reasonably priced.

From Mena Arkansas, it's @ 55 miles along the Scenic Talimena Trail back to Talihina, but there are multiple overlooks with great picture opportunities, and a stop at the Queen Wilhelmina State Park http://www.queenwilhelmina.com/ is a must.

I can't get the map to run the complete Talimena Trail, so there would be a few miles added there as well as the dam route back in Clayton. This route runs a total of somewhere between 211-215 miles. Anything, including the whole route could change if needed, but just wondering if this is a touch too many miles, or if most are OK with this distance. I think this route would get most people new land to see without riding much of what they came in on to get to the meet. Tell me what you think.

Well, I won't make it (I wish I could) but this is where I will be:
                USMMA
                Specifically this:

You need to take lots of photos for me. One good thing though,
at least everyone won't have to worry about me instigating the usual trouble. Somehow going down the road at 120+mph is considered trouble but I wouldn't know about that.
Trbig, does this route include that awesome road we took on our trip south of the trail?

Gee, that looks familiar. Who is the Captain on that thing now? I was with the first class that got to play with the "new Kings Pointer". Before that we had a big ass tug boat. It was a real nice upgrade.

Yup... that's the bottom side of the route from Clayton to Bethel. Andrew and I determined that at one time, someone gave a dozer operator a couple cases of beer, then told him to clear a path... then they paved it. It's just a rural "Mostly" two lane road.. lol. It kind of reminded me of the road we took at the Texas Spring Rally to the Killough Monument for those of you that went there.

                      Hobbyman & trouble

                      Thanks for photo, hobbyman.

Being older than you, I feel that gives me an excuse to give advice.

So...You can usually find trouble wherever you are if you look for it, and can avoid most of it when you try. The other "problems" which arise can usually be sucessfully handled as challenges.

Be careful so you are ready to ride when you get free time. We will take some pictures.

Just do NOT put any high octane aviotion fuel & special custom mix in that big boat, trying to squeeze MORE SPEED out of it.

Work now, ride later. This has been the plan for many of us most of the time.

Most on here don't have a lot to spend, some seem to have too much sometimes.. *Ahem Cody.. lol.

The cost of the trip would all depend on what you are comfortable with. I think the hotel is somewhere@ $50 a night. If you have camping gear of any sort, there's a state park just outside Talihina where we're meeting up that has nice quiet tent spots and a restroom with a couple stalls with clean nice hot showers. If I read correctly, Mark (Gordon_1...oops.. I mean DALE_1) is staying there. That is 8 bucks a night. If you grabbed stuff and ate at the campsite and/or brought sandwich stuff, you wouldn't even have to eat at the restaurants we do... just in for a cup of coffee or something, and heck.. I'd buy that for you. The only thing you can't really get around is the cost of gas. Sorry... I'm not THAT nice! lol.

If you choose to eat at the restaurant, I've yet to see where we pulled into a Red Lobster or steak and seafood joint. We try to keep to the economical places for the majority. Buffets most of the time. If you saw a few of the members... you'd understand why.. lol. (Yeah, OK... I'm one of those.. )

Just think about it. We'd love to have everyone that can make it.

It is October 5-7. I believe that everyone is staying in or around Talihina Oklahoma. Let me know if you are riding down. I plan on leaving here (Kansas City) on the morning of the 5th.
