I'll ride wherever you guys wanna go.....

    Randy...

Yeah, your BIL Mike told me you were easy like that!! Keep us informed on things. Just think... Uncle Randy! lol. Who knows, maybe the kid will come a couple weeks early and.... ?? lol. Tell him good luck and congratulations... and tell him to time these things BETTER next time! He knew @ when this ride was going to happen! Seems an engineer could do THAT much math anyway... lol. Sheesh... the things some people will do to get out of having to go into a bar and see whacko in-breds flip out!

At some point, I am going to go over to that area and try to figure out some kind of route. Anyone living around there or knows the area (*Cough Opajim.. lol) that has any suggestions... it would be GREATLY appreciated.

        ride suggestions

        Hi Todd,

Bohn and I spent an enjoyable day riding around in Arkansas on the way to Talihina. Hwy 7 10 309 109 magazine mountain 23 71 270 were very good rides. Also recommended are 8 88 28 27 21 16 9 and 5

Queen Wilhelmina State park (in Arkansas?) on the tahimena trail near the OK state line might make a good central location for rally HQ.

But I do want to go and eat at Pam's Hateful Hussy diner in Talihina again. Mabe this year I might check out the excitement at the alley bar

May your bearings run smooth and quiet for many more miles,

Well, I just checked with the cheaper motel in Talihina and their rates have gone up a bit... like everything else it seems. These prices are INCLUDING tax. Single 43.90, Double 54.86, triple @ $65. There's still the campgrounds just outside Talihina at $8 for primitive and 16 for water and sewer. They DO have hot showers there, and even supplied you with firewood at the site last time I was there.

Here's the kicker. The first weekend of October is the annual Bigfoot festival?? The motel said she books up every year for it, so you may want to get a reservation now if you are planning on going. They have a 24 hour cancellation policy so you won't lose money if you can't go. I've already reserved a single for the 5th and 6th of October.

The other motel is called Lazy R Inn (918-567-2162). I didn't have a chance to call them, but they were quite a bit higher than the other one last year.

            Hey Tod,
Just to clarify for me; Is the rally a definite for Oct. 5-7?

            Cheers.

LOL... I think those are the days that re going to work best for most. I haven't heard anyone say anything to the negative. I haven't heard many say ANYTHING.. .lol. Still off a while off time-wise, so we'll see. I have reserved a room for those nights though. So if all else fails... you can come see me! lol.

There aren't supposed to be any other bike rallies that the lady had listed, but some may have to shave their backs before arrival so as not to be mistaken for Bigfoot! (If he has two.... wouldn't it be a bigFEET??? ) I'd hate to see someone get strapped to the hood of some redneck's pickup!

yea Mikey coulda planned a LOT better but oh well. We're already planning on the kid being on time so we can go to the bachelor party. I'm already an uncle, so nothing new there. I imagine he'll will have used up all his hall passes by then anyhow.

just to update the hotel situation...

The Lazy R Inn is full on Oct 5-8.

I spoke the Kiamichi Inn and they still have rooms available, but like Tod said, they are going to fill up quick as the date draws nearer.
I got a room at the Kiamichi as well.

                      Cheers,

Hobbyman stayed at the Talimena State Park Campgrounds. They are really nice and October it would be nice and cool.

I plan on attending...but the way this year has gone so far no promises. If I do I'll be riding my '79F...(Time Machine) ....gotta keep up with the Jackson's so to speak...

Obviously we should ride the Talimena Ridge road.

However the ride from Talihina to Honobia last year was very nice. Twisty and scenic it was. (my best impression of Yoda)

YES, alright...I always wanted to ride the Oklahoma trail. I’ve reserved a room at the Kiamichi Inn. Steve (my bro) is uncommitted at this time; hmm, I'll have to "make him an offer he can't refuse."

What other Houston riders are going, and what are your travel plans? I’m either leaving Thursday night (Oct.4th) or very early Friday (Oct. 5th). Wow, 450 miles in one day…that’s a lot of miles for my bones and back side. I would prefer to leave Thursday afternoon and put in three hours (200 miles) before dark. I hate riding at night cause of my vision.

So Robert and Linda, Mike, Greg and Lynda, Dell, Wayne and Nancy, (any others); what’s the travel plans? I can be in Dallas by noon Friday if other riders want to link up. Wow, it's almost August; where did this summer go?

Ok, I'm confused (as usual). Whats da firm dates and where are we going? Is this ride in addition to the TeXSive hill country ride or are they being combined? 300 mile day ain't no thang for me. I'm figurin Renee will wanna ride tailgunner in the cage anyway (could give some relief to other SWMBO's who might find 6+ hours in the saddle a little much ). I am hopin the incessant monsoons will have found somewhere else to roost by then.

                                Here's the plan:
                                Wayne's TeXSive Rally '07 plans.

                                Bottomline:
The Texas riders will join the Talihina riders in Oklahoma, Oct. 5-7. Yee Haw. Bring your cowboys hats.

I would love to see Renee ... this might convince Deborah to come. My wife Deb doesn't ride, but she would enjoy the company of others. And I hear this section of Oklahoma is very pretty. Anywhere would be nicer than Houston's continuous rain storms. The radio reported more HEAVY rains expected today. See ya soon, Stan.
