  • This is a little late...
Arrived Thursday night around 6:00 local time. 1,591 miles per my odometer. Friday met up with some of the early arrivals and rode to the AMA museum. Nice facility and a good way to kill a couple hours. Later went to Davis Land Company to learn / see longhorn cattle. More on these plus photos in a later post. Dinner at Ruby Tuesday followed by gathering, beer, and good conversation around picnic tables at the hotel.

Will be heading out for breakfast soon, then off for today's ride. Weather looks to be pretty good. More tonight depending on when we get back.

        • Yeah, a little early, but thought I'd post my photos from the trip.

          The XS's of XSEast

They all gather unto the banner..

And for the winner, a new BOAT (does not include truck or trailer, let's see you tow that Jerry! lol ) ok, really some more gathering

And what would a sunset be without the Arches!

And here is my XS on the way to XSEast, see it really was clean before the rain storm on the way up. And no I did not use diesel in it.

            • Yep, six XS11s this year. But a bunch of great folks, wish I was back there this evening, but the beast wanted to limp home.

If you wonder how tough and relentless the twisty hilly roads were, well, how often do you see a bike spit out a mixture screw!!?? Went to pull the carbs to see what got into the No1 carb, and found it was a matter of what came out!

So, after finding a spare screw, spring, and rubber washer in my bag-o-carbparts, I went to the hardware store and found some smallish washers to take to the dremel and make a washer for it. Runs on all four now, needs some tuning, and a synch I am sure, but it hits on all four again. Now I know what it is like to ride an XS750 for 300 and some miles.

                  • Great rally and I cant believe its all over 'cept for the burn home...Brent and i along with Greg and Dave will take a 2 hour detour scenic ride this a.m. before we head back to the slabs...Cant refuse the opportunity to ride what has been billed as one of the best roads in th country(open for debate) but OH 26 from Woodsfield into Marietta looks to be a great wake up ride...The only thing i didnt like abt this rally was how freaking hot and humid its been...Sat saw 94* and yesterday was in excess of that..effing hot it was...will post later when i'm home...Great to meet all my good friends and meet some new folks that I have been talking to online for a while...Y'all ride safe now..y'hear???

                    • Thank you everyone for a great rally! Great roads, large quantities of great food, no performance awards, no 'get-offs' - success!

Sally and I arrived home around 4 PM. Seemed to have lost Dean on the way, one moment there the next gone! I think he turned off on his own route.

We need to get more of these to the rallys!

                      • I made it home in pretty good time! Left the hotel at 7:30edt and arrived home at 3:15cdt (4:15edt). That's less than 9 hours to run 515 miles with 5 gas stops and lunch. The whole weekend ran me a total of 1,427 miles. I can now say with great certainty that the Vetter Magic Seat Board definitely works!

Thanks to all in attendance, especially to the team that set up and coordinated the rides and the event as a whole. It would have been nice to see more XS's there, but then I would probably not have won the "Best XS11" award if there was any more competition. Overall, it was a great event and I truly enjoyed the trip.

These rallies just get better and better! A big thanks to all who made it what it was... a great rally!

                            • Well...made it home safe and sound by 5 pm...Brent Greg,Steve and myself took an extra 2 hours to run 26 to Marietta...a really nice road that had some fast sweepers ...and they would come in groups ...road was never straight for long...the weather broke this a.m. and the humidity was very low...running thru the forest was cool and the scenery...the bucolic farmland of the Ohio countryside is amazing. I dont think I saw one farm that was on flat ground... and that is true of the entire rally.Great riding with you Brent,Greg and Steve.
Another memorable ride with Brent...in more ways than you can imagine. I ran similar mileage to Cataonic Bug's...1433 miles in four days and in 10 hrs today rode 526 miles.
Another great rally in the books... Thanks to Mark and always there as well Marty A...for all the planning and preparation...everything went well including the food stops for lunch...especially Quinets' Food Court in New Martinsville WVA...the array and quantity of food they have prepared is really unbelieveable..I know I'd like to go back there...LOL...AND...
well now i can say that my bike isnt the only one that has something fall off of it at an XSEast rally...Eh? Great to see all everyone and make some new friends too. So there was some scuttlebutt abt next yrs rally already but I'll not say anythng at this point I'll leave that to others...suffice to say that the area deserves to be ridden...again...Cant wait til next yr...and just maybe I'll have the XJ...we do need more vintage bikes or whats the point of an XSive rally if no one brings theirs?...that includes me too.
