  • I have a question that is bothering the most .... The distance between gas stations.
I don't want to stop more than I have to but I also don't want anyone to run out. 100 miles?
    125 miles?
    130 miles?
    150 miles?
    What say you all?
Whenever I do the planning if there is going to be one Special in the group the gas stops should be around 75-80 miles (120 kilometers).
    US calculation:
3.3 gallons x 33 mpg = 109 miles. At 75 miles they have used 2/3 of their tank, and there is not much left.

    • I have no idea how much gas my resto ride is gonna go through, I should have it finished and on the road next week, but 100 miles should work between fill's ..

I will know better once I get a few km's on it next week ..

        Hi Ben,
I am going to the rally as well, but I haven't booked a room as of yet. If your offer still stands, I'll bunk with you. I have booked the friday off work so I'll be arriving on the 2nd of July. If you and BDF are there on thursday I will show up early and hang with you guys . I'm only a couple hours south of there.

        Talk to you soon,

          Hi Tom,
I have done 180 kms on a full tank without running out. 100 miles is 160 kms. I'm good with that, but not long after.

          • Fuel Stops

Hey All, I'm back in town.
I would think 120kms between fuel stops would make all the special riders comfortable with their fuel levels (providing they start the day with a full tank) My fuel mileage can range from 130kms to 170kms to reserve depending on how much I twist it.
As for us non iron butt riders, most of us are ready for a stop by 120kms.
            Thx BDF

            • Addies Condition

While I was out of town, and Phil was across the pond. Tinman re-did Addies carbs and a few other items.
She runs out perfect now and is still the fastest stock XS I have ever ridden.
              Great job Jamie.

              • Hey Rick...Great to hear Addie's ailments have been cured...I have to tell you all that I am not going to be able to attend this rally. I wont have the time and my priorities are to find work. Now if you all can find me some work up there then I'd move in a heartbeat even though its still a complicated process to emigrate... The past 3 weeks the temps have been in the 90s' solidly...Yesterday was 96 Humidity is worse than the temp. and has me not riding during the day. I'm about ready to uninstall my Windjammer as its not helping the airflow at all

                • long lost northern neighbor

Hey I just today, realized that i should check xs11 and see whats up now that i got my light sorted out. Been ridding only daylight hours for a month or two.
I want to attend XS north (or west from where i am) but any way need to beg permission.

my wife bought me wireless communication headsets for the helmets guess she want me to take her out again this year. Got to get battery's for those comm system wireless thingy's and see if they work. but then i will have to listen to her tell me to slow down
Beats the slaps to the back of the head to let me know to slow down.

pretty red engine in my bike is a year dirtier now.
After seeing Bullet's picture of "blue balls" i might be shamed into not showing up
Must clean my bike ... but sun is shining and it wants to ride

Sorry to see you're not going to make it BNE. Is anyone else looking to share accomadations on this rally. If not, I guess I'll have to book a room pronto.

                    Thanks,

You have to listen for the sound of hammers and saws. I've been finishing my deck. What time were you passing by. I'll keep an eye out for you. Maybe we could meet at the Timmies on 7A.

hahaha, don't worry, by the time XS North rolls around, I should have hopefully 1500 km on it by then, and it won't be as pretty.. It was built it to drive, not to be a trailer queen ..
